Wellington Phoenix Men

Need more from Paul.

As one of Wellington's biggest fans I would like to express an opinion on one of the greatest players to ever grace the A-League.

Paul Ifill has done so much for our club, on many occasions has been the catalyst for our great club, and barring the most recent of seasons, he could not stop either scoring or assisting goals.

I will admit to be the first one to say that ifi-can (sneaky and necessary pun) be proven wrong from this season, I will be the first to put my hand up and say I was incorrect. My point is that Paul is not performing to the expected levels of our ambition and I'm certainly assuming that he is not living up to his own standard. So I assert this opinion on Paul.

Set a target for your fellow team-mates, and prove to them and the League that you are at this club to win titles. I know your skill set is at a higher bar for most of the players at the Phoenix, but I feel you are not scoring enough or at least creating enough chances.

Again I am one of this clubs biggest fans but, I urge us to succeed. Paul Ifill is the man to emerge glory at this club, so that is what I expect.

Come on Wellington. We have had enough of being shadowed by the Australian clubs. We have the right coach, we have been implied with title-winning tactics, so lets make this club even bigger. Starting with ending Ifill's current disappointing form.

In all honesty (and I am one or two posts away from stalking the legend that is Ifill), his best form was a few season's back.

I don't think his form this season has been disappointing - not always sharp but usually has an impact when he comes on.

Plus he supported Spurs and then Newcastle so he can do whatever he likes.

Yeah I think his form has been good. Always made an impact when he has come on, almost got the winner on the weekend.

Obviously he'd prefer to be starting, but I think he has dig himself into the impact sub role unfortunately.

Hoping he sticks around next season, as think it'll be an exciting one and he'll be a big part of that.

Actually almost got the winner twice on the weekend, Forced a pretty good save from Covic and hit the post in the dying seconds. Has had one poor game against Jest in Napier when he had lumps kicked out of him. As Junior says his best form is behind him and not sure we will ever see the Ifill we saw in his first year, but we do see glimpses and he is really only one of two or players who will perform something genius like and turn a game.

I hope he sticks around Wgtn post-Nix.
He could offer a huge amount to Wgtn football.

I think he's going alright this season. Difficult to come on a sub and be expected to miraculously change games every week but he's made an impact off the bench and, every now and again, has shown what he's capable of. Still one of the very few "X Factor" players we've got.

(awaits rush of bad jokes about crap TV talent shows)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
