Its not about whether Dome is a good GM or not, its about your incessant prattling about it even in unrelated threads. We know your position on it, you dont have to make it your entire personality.

Pointing out that Dome, not Chief, is responsible for crowds was reasonable, the second was just an unnecessary part of your never-ending hate-wank.

Go take a look at the latest table its not anywhere near as bad as some of you claim.
Some of you really need to go take a lie down and come back when things are as actually bad as you keep claiming they are.
Yep at times they arnt playing as well as we want them to,crowds arnt what we like but they arnt all down to just the football. Dont think some of you have any understanding of how tough some people are finding it in Wellington and finding the money to go to games is very hard at times.
Have had few conversations lately with people some with families who all say the same thing. They can no longer afford to attend the number of games they previously did and they prioritize what games they will attend.

I am a bit surprised that for all my lobbying on this forum way back in 2013 to get Ernie Merrick appointed, he did not repay my faith. He did not have a better average than Rudan, let alone Chiefy.  So much for my rose-tinted memory.

I dont think your the only who has been shown up based on that chart. For me shows some of the crap that some post about Chief some times is so much of an over reaction.
Agree he isnt perfect and does make some strange decisions but dont think he is the devil some try and make him out to be.

That table shows the most consistent, not who burned the most brightly. 

It’s arguable that Merrick assembled the most talented and exciting team, and Burns was also perhaps the best player in the competition for a while there.

I agree, in the sense that those here who call Chiefy a poor coach would have to conclude the first season was built purely on the quality of squad alone (i.e. money we had available to spend on salaries) and not on his ability as coach.

Thing i dont get though is you continually see people post that he only did good that season  because he inherited the squad that Talay had put together.
Talay himself has said that most of those players were found by Chief,Talay may have had the final say but it was Chief who put them in front of him.

One thing many have failed to point out above is that the quality of the A League was better 8-10 years ago then it is now. 

Would either Talay or Chiefy have done as well during the Roarcelona area or when a certain Italian footballer was at SFC, personally I think not, even with the extra coin we had to throw around then. 

Merrick's time highlights this fact clearly. His squad would own our current squad but we still didn't win a thing. Plus when Merrick and others were gaffers, there were no Aussie Cup games against weaker NPL sides to boost win stats either.

That was a turning point I reckon on the expectations of what a team can do and a lot of clubs raised themselves to that level. sfc with del Piero were pretty average, but a few seasons later with Arnold as coach and had Mierzejewski and Ninkovic and Bobo etc. that was great team. 

For the 'Nix, I reckon the 19-20 squad was our strongest and would have done well at any stage of the league. Chiefy's first season would have done well, would have been a difficult opponent for many teams as teams in the al press more aggressively and smarter now (something learned from overseas) and taking that team to prior eras of the league would have been difficult to play against.

I wholeheartedly agree about the 19/20 side. They really should have won something and no doubt would have had it not been for COVID.

Honestly yes, The women have the best coach in the league by a mile therefore it does not suprise me that Bev has got the team to top two.

On paper, our paper is quite strong. We should be a top 6 team minimum, with our current squad.

We've only had our current squad for a couple of weeks. And this week our significant outs were Rufer and Mileusnic.

One swallow and summer and all that. Squads on paper don't count for much if half of them weren't here or fit until near February.

We've got ten games to try and get this improved squad working and making a difference.

The frustration is that it seemed that things were working and settled down. We’d picked up a couple of clean sheets. We were getting wins and were almost jumping into the top 6. We were turning losses into draws.

Then we’ve signed 3 good players, none of whom is a left back, and our team has turned a win into a draw and shipped 4-5 soft goals in two games. That’s hella frustrating.

True, we were in a nice grove picking up points.
 I like the new recruits but they are at various levels of match fitness and of course need time to get the team patterns and team mates sorted out. Great to see Singh coming but same thing for him. Hasnt played a full match since November.
We need regular points now. The worry is we will have a great team by March but it will be too late.
Im also concerned that we might be seeing Chiefy ball again. He said that KH in goal is good good for them playing out from the back

Basically, Chiefy now has the squad, the proximity to the top 6 and enough games left to have a successful end to the season. 

I think if he fails to make the 6 he has to go. I also think if he limps into the 6 with the team looking inconsistent and fragile and gets dumped out of the finals in the first round then he has to go as well. 

But if we make the 6 with the team looking in really good form and play well in the first finals game (even if we get knocked out in a close contest in that game) then maybe you could argue he deserves another chance.

Pretty confident and saying that even without the new recruits not making the top 6 would have been job ending for Italiano. Now with the new recruits I'd think the expectation to make top 4 would be there.

Yep. I was concerned about Chiefy ball too. We tried to play out once I saw and were very lucky with how it worked out. 

The other buzz words that concerned me were team v team tactical advantages and then he played an extra defensive midfielder and we played Eze on the horizon and by himself. He made it work, but it was undoubtedly a defensive formation.

Something to keep in mind is we are looking at a big rebuild before next season. We won't be able to retain Eze, and hard to argue that any of our other imports will or should stay. Rufer could also go. Armiento, Retre & Mileusnic all off contract too. Singh will almost certainly be going somewhere else after the World Cup.

Some of these players might stay but it is very possible that they all leave and I am sure at least half will go. 

Chiefy has now done 2 rebuilds. Never got his side working after the first, and here we are two-thirds of the way through the season after his second rebuild and he still hasn't got things working properly. Hard to argue there is any value in keeping the same man in place for continuity's sake.

I think it was the extremely un-frustrating month, including the signings of Sandar and Bill, when we got some results. 
Having reinforced with quality, we’ve reconfigured slightly and played worse, with worse results. 

As has been said many times now, it’s the hope! 
But we’ve brought in an MLS player and an SPL player, but we’ve dropped to second last, when we’d hoped to be on the cusp if not comfortably in the top 6. 

And the guys behind us are playing below what we’d expect of Kosta, Kraev, Lawrence Thomas and co. Points are important. 

So yeh the reaction is created because we had a month of expectations exceeded! 

But the crowd trended up right-almost 5 and a half thousand right? Thanks ladies!

No, I think the idea is that the majority of the total crowd showed up to watch the women, many of whom would have been intending to stay and watch the men, and a minority of the total crowd showed up later to only watch the men

Given that the ladies are on a roll and the men have lost yet again, why not? 

I know I prefer to watch winning football and the ladies seem to have found 5th gear now. 

Would be interesting if they win the league. Will put even more pressure on the men's side of the game if the HeNix blow out (again).

Or a lot went to support their club thats both teams. I know people who went to the womans game because it was before the mens game as they dont normally go to womans games, but they wanted to see them.
