Good news.

Don't you just love marketing speak though? "This partnership is a perfect fit for Export 33 blah blah blah"

Indeed, because we could then say "Wellington Phoenix doesn't brew its own beer. But if it did, it'd be f**kloads better than than Carslberg crap."

I can't remember what RoF serves but would this change what is served at games? I wouldn't think so, but interesting if it is the case.

RoF serves both Tui and Export Gold IIRC. Either way, team sponsorship tends to over-rule stadium sponsorship and I'd say it's 99.9% likely we'll see Export 33 available.

On that note, does this mean that Four Kings will no longer be the official Nix bar due to the clash in brewery?

Yes to Export 33 and some other DB beers at stadium.

And yes.  The team won't be at 4kings after the games anymore.  But that doesn't matter as you hardly ever got to mingle with them.  4K will still be the official after match venue for YF.

That's a good pick up though, breweries have loads of cash to spend on sports sponsorship so getting them involved means we're breaking through into the mainstream

Oh dear
why oh why can't we have a decent beer - Tuatara would have been fine, and local to boot.
DB export is not a beer, it's marketing.

One thing for sure, I won't be spending at the stadium

I don't drink beer at the stadium, so this doesn't affect me. But I do think it's an odd choice of beers for a sponsor.

surely it's the money they pay that should matter most to us/the club? But having said that, Sony is certainly a cool sponsor to have though!!  Still think Adelaide's Jim's Plumbing last season was the worst shirt sponsor I've seen yet - my son and I laughed at that every time they were on last year.

AFAIK they have to do special runs of the stadium beer (shelf life in plastic bottles is nearly non-existant) so im assuming the tui was already around in other parts of the country to be shipped here at little to no risk for DB. The next home game for the Nix being 3 weeks away meant what didnt sell would have to be tipped down the drain or flogged of to warriors fans. (thus no export 33)

Was anyone else surprised that beer was being sold in glass bottles at the last game against Sydney? I thought they had banned them from stadiums due to safety. Just needs one idiot to throw one of them from up the back.

Pfft. Throwing bottles is so overrated.

Where was that? I certainly never had a glass bottle...and I had 6 beers!

To be fair, I think plastic bottles make it more tempting for people to throw. Not that I am a bottle thrower, but I'd sooner chuck an empty plastic bottle than a glass one!
