probably be a good idea but they cost a fortune to build then you need tenants to keep it going

i dont see it happening! All fields in nz need to accomadate for the football-rugby-and cricket-along with the odd concert!
Maybe if we pack the "ring of fire" every night for the first few seasons there may be the need!

I would love to see Newtown park re-done from scratch making it rectangular, but with its improvments being made now and the councils / governments hesitance to fund it i dont see it happening.

Maybe in a couple of years. 5.

maybe when there are sell outs (or close to it) on a regular basis there may be the need for a Phoenix complex.

Until then how about we worry about making it through the duration of the A-League contract (and before you all start moaning about negativity, kiwi knocking etc. im being realistic and practical)

no point building a flash stadia if theres no supporters...or more importantly, no team.

Maybe Terry can build one as a future development at Newtown Park and can make it a complex with apartments built in.....and they all have huge balconies overlooking the park and stadium and we get first option to buy one cheap for being founding supporters.....

Phoenix Village......with bars, restaurants and a megastore!!!

knock down Mt Ruapehu, and build a 300,000 capacity football staduim.

If you build it, they will come...............................

Be careful some of the locals may make a treaty claim for historical intelectual property rights if you talk like that. They must have had a football team before the imigrants arrived.  They had the airwaves covered.Blew2007-06-07 21:57:22

well say its a hit(and we grow etc) i think they should build a 10000-12000 seat small stadium (or redo newtown park) and we just have it all for YF, leoforos(panathiniakos stadium) seats 15000 and when its packed its all fans clubs so the chanting is incredableWPFC_OR_DEATH2007-06-08 00:29:26

Expensive though to build a stadium of any size and the Phoenix don't ave the funds and probably won't for awhile...Maybe if the phoenix does grow..They could do something like Melbourne where the Government is building and paying for a new stadium in return Melbourne ave to make it their Base but they ave to share it with two other codes.

I think you just have to thank your lucky stars that you have a big fancy stadium and not cry about it being round!!  dazzla2007-06-08 09:49:36

As long as one of those 2 other codes isn't cricket otherwise we'll just end up with another bl**dy cake tin!

That's a good idea. Don't knock it down though, just cut the rop off and dig down in the middle and just attach the seats to the inside of the mountain (although isn't it volcanic?). That would save the Phoenix having to pay for a heap of concrete etc.
