A little dodgy? Being a former Novocastrian now living in Wellington I can guarantee that the Demise of the Newcastle Breakers had NOTHING to do with the players not being paid and more to do with "Dodgy Dealings" between the Jets owner, Con Constantine, his side kick Remo Nogarotto (The man responsible for driving the Northern Spirit into the ground!) and the old NSL boses!

I don't mind saying it on your behalf!!!

I can also state that Former Newcastle Breakers Striker and now Fox Sports Commentator Andy Harper, who was the head of the Professional Footballers Assossiaction at the time, missed not one but two penalties in the Newcastle Breakers last evey match against his former club Marconi. Had at least one of them hit the back of the net then the Breakers would have won the match and finished in the Top Six, Marconi would have been 7th and out of the playoffs and the NSL would have found it very difficult to kick them out of the League...

Sound Dodgy???

And the Icing on the Cake...

Tony Labozetta was President of Marconi Stallions in 2000 when all this mess was unfolding. It was no surprise that later that year he was voted to the role of Chairman of the NSL not long after...

OK I think i'm done!

Interesting, although not surprising, the old NLS was widely criticised for being political. . .

The old NSL was heavily biased towards NSW Clubs, hence why half the League (Northers Spirit, Syd Olympic, Syd United, Parramatta Power, Marconi, Wollongong Wolves, Newcastle Breakers) were from that part of the world. When it came time to elect the NSL Board they all stuck together and voted in "their" man, Mr Labozetta.

Apparently one of the argentinians is at a Chinese club and one of the brazilians is still trialling elsewhere.
The brazilians dont sound like they are in the same league as Daniel , Cleberson, Reinaldo, Campos and Cassio however just on pedigree alone.
