great to hear that Justin De Frense on Newstalk ZB Welliington had callers talking about how good Yellow Fever is for Sport in general today arounf 11.40 to 12 .I heard 4 callers mention the fever and phoenix on air and these guys are just a straight news driven talk show.
Brilliant. The Radio network Wellington are doing a bloody fine job at supporting our boys!!!
Maybe its casue of Piney or maybe its just cause the fever is growing stonger by the day!

Yea I heard it as well, some unemployed Poms ringing in to say how wonderful everything is and how great football is and rugby has had its day! Well join the line because the leaugies have been doing this for ages.

Just enjoy what your doing and good luck to you but dont start this we are better than you lark.
your only a few games into your campaign and are the third strike in a three strikes and your out situation.

If you think about it its not the hardest thing in the world to do to ring up a radio talk back show, but then for the next guy to think "Dur i might ring the radio to" all of a sudden we have an epidemic of yellow fever on the radio.

Good Luck to you all but dont get too excited too soon please! or you will be playing Reginald Perrin at Centre forward.

Yes exactly Jamus,

Just think the YF people should realise what percentage of the crowd are sports people that watch all sports.

I see a lot of rugby people at the games and I too will be there to cheer on the league boys.

But dont turn this into a them and us thing ...thats all!

it's called yellow fever not yellow sniffles - no one tells rugby supporters to calm down and not get too excited, why the hell should we??
I like tautologies because I like them.

Oh well enjoy it while you can, the life expectancy of a football competition in Australasia is pretty short as you would know.

The beauty about being on your third strike is if you hit a home run then you are a hero and everyone remembers who you are.

I'm not saying we've hit a home run yet but we've definitely rounded first and are heading for second.

That's enough baseball cliches for one post.

Cosimo - great call! Why the hell should we?
Nobody on this forum mentioned a 'them and us' situation - you invented that zinger, looks like that's whats on your mind pal.
Someone should have told them to calm down the all blacks hype then we wouldn't be in this ridiculous four yearly mourning cycle.
The only hype is really about the phoenix popularity - i don't hear anyone singing out that we're guna win the comp. We just wanna see our boys go out and compete, and have a sh*tload of fun while we're doing it. No reason whatsoever we should 'calm down' on that...
Rant complete...

Am just wondering Zinger - from reading the above post, just where did you gather any information to support this comment you made?;

"dont start this we are better than you lark"

Ridiculous.

This is a case of one person (zinger) hears/reads something and thinks everyone else (most people on Yellow Fever) think that as well. How does he know the people who called are unemployed?

The NSL was formed earlier than the NPC.

The NSL ran for as along as the NPC and then was re-invented as the A-League.  The NPC was re-invented as the Air New Zealand Cup.

So by the same measurement, New Zealand rugby competitions don't last long.

How's my driving? - Whine here
