Next season; what would you like to see ?

What I would like to see happen;

The new coach given a two year contract with a one or two year extension option by mutual agreement – it will take two years to completely rejuvenate the squad and imbed a new playing style.

A higher standard of fitness – Ifill in particular needs to decide if he wants to play another season and, if he does, he needs to put the work in. Silky skills alone don’t cut it when the other guy is much quicker. On this theme – a very fit Carlos.

Perseverance with Fenton and Boyd – they both have a lot of untapped / uncoached potential. Waffles getting a decent shot and game time – he is a better player than he has had an opportunity to show. Gameiro signed – he is very very good and has a great attitude. All of which might create the competition for starting spots that might motivate Brockie to up his work rate.

A place for Greeny in the set-up – the new coach must have the scope to appoint his own assistants but I hope there is a place in the club somewhere for Greeny – he personifies a club first, professional attitude.

Two new full backs – Manny possibly being one after the new coach explains to Manny he has three options; play where you’re told or carry the water bottles or, by mutual agreement, we terminate your contract

Two new DMs.

A single club spokesman appointed who just talks sense in a way all can relate to (ala Greeny and Ifill) – everyone else shutting up (Gareth).

Some flash new supporters kit.

A renewed focus on community engagement.

I’m sure there is plenty to be done with the FSE and development pathways but I’ll leave that to others.

I’m looking forward to this season being put out of its misery but really quite excited about Nix v2.0.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

It's obvious to me that from being a team who played ugly but relatively successful football, the wheels have fallen off big time this season and that the reasons for that are more off the field than on.

All I want to see is us make the right coaching appointment and make decent signings to fill the obvious gaps we have.

More than anything, now that the Coach has gone, I want whatever (whoever) else is causing problems off the field to be sorted out, and that the owners keep their mouths shut, and their noses out, and let football people look after the football side of things.

Not much to ask, is it?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I would like to see our back 4 and defensive mids, whoever they may be, go back to being the rock upon which our success was built. We have conceded 43 goals this season, that is twenty five more than the Mariners and WSW.  To me, that is where everything must start, regardless of whether you are trying to play a "possession based football" or just Welly up the field long ball or somewhere in between.

We have never conceded that many goals (although less games played in forst two years) in a season and our Goal difference is looking like it will be twice as bad as it has ever been.

Clean out our import slots...Smith and Sanchez to go and somehow get rid of Totori. That way the new coach has some leeway to get in some recruits that will make some difference. Yesterday only one of our five imports started.....that is criminal. If we don't get some quality imports then I don't see how we are going to replace some of the dross we have, with available NZ and Oz players.

I don't like to see former A-League players, Coaches. Welnix have to think big! Bring in Jupp Heynckes! He would love the lifestyle in Wellington AND he needs a new challenge before retiring.

I find an element of Chelsea in that. That must be a fear of any new coach of having Gareth talk bollocks in the press. It must come with a complete gag order or what coach worth his salt is going to touch it?

Pretty much this post is what I would like.

We can give you the one day test match, but it probablly contradicts your first request.

Otherwise a good solid partnership back at CBs and a couple of experienced FBs who know how to work with them and have the pace to get forward AND back.

The perenial quality midfielder.  Hernandez MAY and CAN be it, but we've yet to see what he actually brings.

And a fit Ifill or a replacement younger version.

Personally what I would like to see is fully legit, full time Fitness Coach/Physio. Do we have one of those already?

If we are going to have older players like Ifill and Stein, [godforbid] Lochhead (and Dura, Siggy and Leo aren't getting any younger) we need to have them fit as possible and be doing whatever we can to keep them injury free.

If we are going to play some sort of possession based football the players will need to be especially fit to implement the tactics and as such I think we need a dedicated, in house sport scientist to ensure the players are in peak condition through the off-season and all season long.

IN - Hernandez, a new coach who will put a well deserved rocket up the backsides of the squad, a natural goalscorer, 2 new fullbacks, 1 new centre half (at least), a goalkeeper, a decent holding midfielder.

OUT - Paston, Lochhead, Lia, Smith, Bertos (can maybe stay as squad player), Sanchez, Totori, Ifill (he may retire?), Downey

I'd also like to see us look like we've practiced a few set pieces in training, as well as some passing and moving, rather than the current passing and standing still.  Some better advertising, more hype, less Sunday games, less family orientated crap, less giant Chickens on the TV, better music at the stadium.

Not too much to ask is it?!

Phoenix City as the walk-out song.

And stop playing that live version they're currently using on the way in that was obviously recorded in New York because the singer shouts "New York City" as often as "Phoenix City"!

Two things
Agree on the Sunday games thing totally.

GK. Paston has been reasonable this year. Solid, performed but not in the spectacular category (but then I don't really think any GK has been this year having watched). Whats wrong with him as the bench option to Moss? Paston has copped a bit of a ragging this year but he has not performed as bad as the masses would call him out for (I will concede distribution though).
He would be a better bench option for one year knowing that his career is almost over than a young GK on the bench who will need game time but wont get it. At least Paston is unlikely to grumble where as some young ones...

This or properly adapt the Ring of Fire nickname and play Johnny Cash - get back to giving the team a proper identity and stop focussing on stupid things like Nixie
