Does anyone know if Greenacre is officially the Nix's assistant coach or is unofficially player/assistant coach?

Just that there is some shiite going down in Oz over Kosminas appointment as new Reds coach. The new A-League rules state that all head coaches must hold an A license. Apparently Kosmina hasn't got one. lots of people would say he is not a coach's arse anyway but that is beside the point.

How this effects the Nix is that all new assistant coaches appointed must have an A license as well. From memory Greenie has only attained the first level of coaching qualification. Which means he can't be appointed Nix assistant coach next season. An incumbent assistant coach must have enrolled for the A license before the start of the 2012/2013 season. Not sure how many grades Greenie has got to go before he can start his A license but its unlikely he would fit it all in before the start of the 2012 season, if he is in fact the current incumbent.

I'm not sure who else is in the running to be appointed assistant coach next season but if they are looking in this region does anyone know if Emblem, Trani or Trubiltix hold A Licenses.

Just as an aside the GK coach must have a Level 1 GK License and from 2015/16 Conditioning coaches need a FFA Footballing conditioners license.

Some people might think this is bureaucracy gone mad but IMO it is important to have professional standards.....these license requirements are standard in nearly all Western football countries

Are assistant coaches supposed to sit on the bench too? Because we see a lot of Lee Taylor, who is only Fitness/Strength and conditioning coach, right?

I think IMO, if you are good enough to coach, you should be able to. Regardless.

I have no issue with them enforcing this for head coaches. You need to have a standard and thats great.

To enforce that on assistants is admirable and I can see the reasoning but it is not realistic. You are literally asking at least 20 (10 teams, 2 each) coaches to have A Licences. Chances are high they wont want to have an A Licence and sit as an assistant. In most cases, I would suspect that the coaching setup might be head coach and specialists. Are you then asking Goalkeeper coaches (whom would be classified as assistant coaches) to have A Licences as well?

Also the I think the Kevin Muscat factor will be the killer. I don't think he has it but that would kick him out of Melbourne straight away. Seeing the clout they had with the Kewell factor, would they let this happen?

I would also suspect that based on Lee Taylors background, he would have a fair bit of useful football intelligence but thats pure speculation.

I've been practicing throwing boots at the kids. I reckon I could give this coaching thing a go.

I'd pick you as my assistant. I would think with your boot throwing skills, you'd know slightly more than me

I've found it helps your aim if you speak in a Scottish brogue.

They have their own pathway in regards to coaching qualifications

I think I was vaguely aware of that. Would the FFA then want goalkeeping coaches to have the relevant matching keeping quialification?

It does pose some interesting questions. There could well be some quality keeping coaches (and I am thinking more in terms of hypotheticals) thats are old school guys that coach from experience that would be ruled out because of this it that was the case.

It's never helped me

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
