As we've gotten rid of Nichols, we need to fill the most important piece of the roster - Mr Punchable Face.
I see Kruse is avaliable..

If we hadn't been through so much crap with the club over the past decade or so I think I might be very concerned with the current predicament. But what supporting this club had taught me is that the playing field is never going to be level and we will be always running up hill, whether we like it or not.
Does it suck anus to be in the position we are in with recruitment? Ken Oath it does.
Do I trust Ufuk Talay to do everything in his powers to drag us out of this mess? Yep I do.
No Dura, no party. We need that guy at the club. Very upsetting if he leaves.
We really need that guy
The one thing I am critical of in regards to the club ownership/management or whatever, is that we currently have a bunch of non-contracted youth internationals and other promising players that have been left to be picked off by other clubs
Normally the Australian clubs would have their heads inserted so far up their own arses that they wouldn't be interested in our youth. But if our boys keep coming up with good results this week, this will all change.
Leaving it all to one person (Rudan, then Talay) to eventually make up their mind on them is irresponsible.
It should be obvious to the club that you secure your young players and that it's normal say to any coach, "due to their long term importance, these are the players we've retained, you have no say in this"
Not while they are visa slots to an Aussie club.
For me the priority moving forward is to sign up as many of the NZ U20s side as we can. Singh, Cacace (already signed) Stensness, Waine, McCowatt etc... These are the future of our club...

It's gutting to think that internal politics could keep some of these kids away from the Phoenix

The obvious answer is to let Declan Edge take over the Phoenix Academy
(disclaimer: may actually be stupid idea)
Or it could be the best idea ever....

It would be one of the two.
been really impressed by that joe bell kid, would be nice to see him back at the club especially considering how low our midfield stocks are.
Think you might find some of the 20s squad are going to get better offer than we can give them.Given the option of NZ or overseas as a young fella its a no brainer which you would take.

No way he is coming back, he is at University of Virginia in the States. Be better for him to complete his studies first than risk going pro. Maybe after Uni if we are still around but if he does well there he probably has a good chance of going into the draft for the MLS.
I think he's a good player, but he's also quite similar to Rufer - I think Rufer will be playing a lot of minutes again and if we have Stensness that will fill the young kiwi midfielder quota.
It was interesting listening to Piney this morning say he expects Singh and Carcace to stay another year in the A League and leave as it would be best for them.
I tend to agree, but would it be best for the NIX? Personally, if the NIX get offers in for the two of them I think they should take it (if a reasonable offer) as letting them go off contract will see any payout being minimal at best (my understanding is if an off contract youth player (u23) signs with another club, despite having an offer from his current club, a transfer is set by a committee??)
Get as much money as you can, ask for a future fee percentage, and if they are signed as players for the future, see if you can't negotiate a loan for the next year as well.
I think the NIX need to be a bit more ruthless - we have two of the best youth prospects in Asia/Oceania and should make use/cash in on this.
What happens alot in the aleague is a team sells their young players then get them back on loans as they're not ready for the step up to europe. Hopefully the Phoenix can do something similar.

Yeah if we can do that would be a lot better because losing those two for the upcoming season will be like destined for bottom two imo

nothing wrong with Whitireia

Stensness scored a screamer for under 20's against Norway

It should be obvious to the club that you secure your young players and that it's normal say to any coach, "due to their long term importance, these are the players we've retained, you have no say in this"
Not while they are visa slots to an Aussie club.
Stensness could sign as an Australian

Neither he nor Waine are signed for the next season as of right now.
while not signed to professional contracts are they signed as youth players?

I don't think so, but someone who keeps a closer eye on this may be able to confirm more definitively.
Probably safest to assume that they're all gone
Love the optimism. At least we've already locked in the best two.

Jai Ingham has been release by Victory. Any takers?

Thats a bit shark. Had presumed they'd had contracts arranged. Probably playing with all their might to get a deal elsewhere.

Maybe if he'll pay to play, capital football style?

Wasn't Andrew Nabbout released by the Victory after being underwhelming? He turned out alright.

Soccerway says a total of 1,710 minutes in the A League, so equivalent to 19 full games for that goal.
Victory not such an easy team to break into. Had a little opening late last year, but then got injured himself.
Worth a trial.

Wash your mouth out. Kiwis don't trial for Phoenix.

Or playing with all their might to get further up the Phoenix pecking order.
We are going to need to find a new LB for the coming season. Libby has been the best kiwi player at the U20 WC. I was listening to a Euro U20 WC pod today and the panel rated him the standout LB of the tournament so far....there was even speculation about where he might end up. He will certainly be in hot demand. Left backs are in short supply. Who knows, he always said he wanted to play pro football in Italy. He could live his dream sooner than he thinks.
I guess the only plus for the Nix would be a transfer fee...plus a percentage of future transfers.
can you link the pod cast please. I've been wanting to hear what people outside of NZ are saying about us.
