I expect;
Krishna
Williams
Burgess
Kurto
Kopy
Sheridan
To all leave.
There's no way we can match Krishna's expected salary anymore, unfortunately.

Of the above, Krishna is the only one with direct links to New Zealand and the main (or only) reasons to go being financial, unlike other players where other factors would also apply. I would expect Welnix focusing on that; otherwise we may not be able to compete financially in HAL anyway (despite it being a capped league).
I wouldn't begrudge Roy taking a big pay day somewhere else.
He's been fantastic for us.
If he can set up his family with his next contract then I wish him all the best.
Is Kurto really going, there has been speculation he signed with Western United since the Jets game at home.
With our season over I would have thought an announcement would have been made but nothing.
No reason for there not to have been..so i'm wondering if its all rubbish and we are negotiating with him. Or am i just being hopeful.
I just hope he gets a fat contract in Japan/Korea so he won't have the opportunity to score against us like all of our other ex-players

why can't we match the salary? are you assuming that Welnix wont offer marquee? in which case he can't fit under the cap.
Kurto has been rumoured to be leaving for ages, but nothing confirmed.
Kopy was only a loan right where his home club paid a bulk of his wages? so it would make sense he'll go unless we can sign him permanently.
Burgess, Williams and Sherry have every opportunity with the nix to continue what they've started here.
I'd hope that most, if not all, of this list stay.

Pretty sure that Dome said in an interview after the last game that Kurto is the only confirmed departure.
I agree with Valeo that there is a high chance that none on that list are with the club next season. Williams is probably the best chance of staying, and Kopa I think would be interested in staying, but that would probably mean re-working his $$$, and assumes that the club would want him to stay at any rate.

WelNix are apparently offering marquee wages, other clubs are apparent offering significantly more.
I hope they'd look into a sponsor to keep Krishna- certainly could be a thing
Kurto confirmed gone.
And confirmed to WU :((

Dang it, we'd gone so long with that rumor that I thought we stood a chance of signing it
THEN SOMEONE had to bring it up, and merely a few hours later its confirmed

He'll be a loss :( I really liked Kurto... I guess this means Marinovic is more likely now?
Remember all that consternation on here last off season about using an import slot on a keeper?
Well we can at least take solace in the fact that we started a trend!
Started it with Warner about 8 years ago

Would Marinovic be interested in coming to the Nix? He's lived away from NZ now (mostly Germany) for nearly 10 years.
He's age 27, by coming back to NZ, he's probably giving up on any dreams of ever 'making it' in Europe. That won't be an early realisation to have. Can only think of Vukovic as a keeper who has gone from the A League to Europe, at a later age (Soocerway says was about 32 when went to Belgium). Any others??? Likes of Ryan & Langerak were pretty young (both around 21).
Look Nix may offer Marinovic tempting dollars, and the certainty that he will start next season as the side's no 1 keeper. But I can see him wanting to trial for a few more months in Europe yet, and Nix as almost a last resort.
I see Gleeson if fit as being more likely. Could well be wrong.

Marinovic all but signed with the nix apparently

According to who? Great response by club to loss of Kurto, if so.
Marinovic all but signed with the nix apparently
Source please?
Good signing if true - would he be cheaper than Kurto was?

Someone from radio sports tweeted that it's a done deal, they just need to get a pharmacist internship for his partner.

But happy to wait on an official announcement from the club.
That pharmacist thing is so specific it has to be true.
Getting a keeper and future investment in free performance enhancing drugs - very smart
Not sure if Marinovic is a better option than Sail, but we'll find out soon.

Yes you would think so.
Well couldn't have got that more wrong if it is true. Wonder how long deal is.

Marinovic has played dozens of games in leagues better than a-league, where Sail has only played as back up. He has also looked class for All Whites. Imo Marinovic is clearly a better option.
What is relevant for me with Kurto was the arrival this past season of Paul Gothard as GK coach.
Okay, he showed he was a bit of a bench hot head at times getting involved in slanging matches with other benches and officials. But Kurto arrived as the number two from a middle of the table dutch team supposedly prone to howlers (check back the comments from last June/July when he arrived). Not suggesting that is a comparable standard at all but he was hardly a known name.
I reckon a lot of his success with us was Paul. Oli Sail was also a far better keeper this year than he was last as well. Another measure of Paul. We need to be hanging onto him.
Read recently in the Polish sports newspaper a low-key comment from Kopa's partner (forgot her last name but it is not Kopczynska) that they were looking forward to seeing family in Warsaw as she missed her Mum - but no idea whether it was a permanent return or a holiday. The snippet was about womens rugby and not about Michal Kopczynski.
Like most, I do not rate Kopa at his original position of DM, but that was also his case at Legia, where he slowly slipped down from a preferred candidate to a third choice at DM, since a new coach took over. So it might be that being converted to a CB is a key for him to reinvent himself back home in Warsaw. I cannot see ourselves paying his full wages; and you'd be mad to.
The guy is not good in the air and does not tackle.
He holds back from attackers and tries to intercept balls with his positioning, something he is quite good at. That approach won't cut it in the back line for him, because he is too slow to deal with quick attackers and can't stop crosses.
He's average and there are better, cheaper options.
To his credit, I thought his passing from CB was very good and was a big reason why we went on the winning run in the middle of the season.
That's true. He is a good distributor as well as good in positioning himself, it's the contact areas that he needs to improve.

Absolutely. Experience counts for a lot back there.

Gothard isn't the first, and won't be the last, GK coach / GK who is as comfortable with his mouth as he is under a cross. Bit of an occupational hazard IMHO. And, yes, we need to keep hold of him if possible.

While I'm pleased to see another Kiwi back at the Phoenix, this is a pretty generous interpretation of his club career. He'
s generally struggled to hold down a first team place and most of his football was in the MLS which isn't a great standard

MLS might not be great, but I think it's generally a higher standard of football than the A-League.
I have been informed by a Polish journalist that Michal Kopczynski does have another season on his Legia Warsaw contract but a squad overhaul is likely, which means he could be loaned out again.

The overhaul of the current group does mean the loan players could also come back to prove themselves though.

he's played 32 games in the MLS - so two dozen rather than dozens!
before that he was playing 5th or 6th tier German football
Well, 2 and 2/3 of a dozen, if we're going to be pedantic.
And we all know that I am.

That doesn't mean he's the better keeper, it means he's been given more chances (and, to be honest, has failed more times than succeeded)
Having two kiwis battle it out for the #1 spot seems like a good move, though.
I'm a bit worried we'll be keeping Kopy tbh..We can do better.
