Two down, more to follow, including Ufuk.
Nix Transfer Speculation 2019-20
Considering that Rufer isn't even in the first team at the moment, I'm skeptical about half of this news
Whats there to be skeptical about Talay is putting a squad together. Not as if Rufer hasnt been playing well and before his injury he was starting. Great see both of them committing to the club you need more than just a starting 11.
To be honest, I think both Devlin and Steinmann show Rufer to be a really limited player. Good club man, and doesn't seem to have aspirations to go anywhere else; but let's be honest, there's a reason for that.

Rufer was on fire before his injury.
I'd rate a Rufer Devlin midfield pairing over Steinmann.
goods news to start the new year, it great we can sign players long term now and not have the exodus/rebuild like the last 3 years, looking forward to our first game at our “new” stadium on Saturday, love to see hooper get a good run

Didn't Rufer go and trial in europe before Rudan took over?

Rufer is only 23 - sure, he might not end up in a top Euro league, but he could be plenty good (and cheap) enough for an MLS (for example) team. His best years are still ahead of him, assuming he stays fit. Pretty sure he'll be chomping at the bit having watched Devlin over the past few weeks too.
I really don't understand the criticism of this extension or Rufer as a player at this level - he is exactly the type of player and role we need to keep at the club. He's solid and has shown himself to be very coachable too - playing what is essentially an anchor role in two different systems across two seasons is really not that easy. For all Devlin's great work in the past several weeks, he's still Rufer's (and Steinmann's) deputy in my book.
Rufer isn't my favourite but had good season last year and after slow start was going well before picking up a knock. Good thing too is even if we end up with him on the bench he'll stay committed. Assuming that we didn't pay him massive coin, that's a good re-signing.
Obviously great to have Taylor for longer as well!

Hard to be in the first team when you're injuried.
Another annoucment at 11 today.

Hmmmmm.
it’s about to kick off
Fortunately Talay thinks more of Sotirio than many on here do.More than happy he is staying.
Joshua is the ultimate daniel-esque player. Half of us think he's absolutely terrible, the other half would want him in the all whites.
I'm ok with this. He's got some good attributes, quick and strong. He'll hopefully only get better cause he's not quite there yet skillwise IMHO.
I think like most of the team he improved since the start of the season, he must be doing something right for Ufuk to give him another 2 years
If nothing else, his goal at Eden Park was epic

At his age you can develop pace and strength; skills .. not so much.

Daniel had a lot more talent. While absolutely not a fan of Sotirio (we played better last game due to him being benched and not wasting chances) if he's a squaddie, ok.
Nothing wrong with re-signing him at all. So many A-League clubs are revolving doors year after year with first-teamers and squaddies alike, so it's good to see us retaining as much depth as possible.
I can't see Hooper staying around next season, so we'll have a prime visa spot on our front line that will put Sotirio down to the bench where he can come on with his pace for 20-25 minutes.

We're not a top of the table team with him starting. But he is a decent team player, has a great engine, defends and runs, does what the coach tells him and plays for the team. I personally don't think Uffie sees him starting at the end of the season, but how long do you see McCowatt and Piscopo staying? We can afford to gamble on Hooper because we've got Sotirio to cover. We want talented youngsters, supported by team players. And you never know how he may develop given contract certainty, decent team mates and coaching.
He has been one of the reasons we have been successful. Bloody glad some on here dont have any part in who we sign and who plays.

i'd argue the opposite

VERY WELL SAID!!
Brandon Wilson has left the Glory, he played with the Aussie age group sides under Talay iirc. He is a midfielder that has filled in at RB previously for the Glory. Not sure we need another DM this season but adding quality depth could give us the option of using Steinmann's visa slot to replace Cacace if he leaves in the off season.

Agreed.
Wellington Phoenix are set to announce the signing Brandon Wilson shortly, after the midfielder had his Perth Glory contract terminated upon request. The 20-year-old is expected to move to New Zealand imminently, according to sources close to the player.

Interesting signing. With the emergence of Devlin, a 4th CM seems almost surplus to requirements, with Payne and TAHW able to cover there also. Only makes sense to me if he's been signed as an RB first and foremost and I think he'd be an upgrade on Payne there - we must be offering him game time for him to leave Perth.

Payne would be very hard done by if Wilson replaced him straight away after being very solid since coming in, I feel like Wilson will be more signed as a utility back-up player that can play CM/RB and even CB irrc he played there a couple times for Perth.
Seems happy to pass amongst his team mates.
Won't lose him to Olympic prep events.
Concerned about his decision making. Maybe the counselling will improve that.
Utility players are always good to have. I must say I'd feel bad for Payne too but the bottom line is the best RB should start, period. Also, I'd take most of Perth's players right now and our end game has to be improving the team.
Gotta say I love having a club with a future for the first time in a long time. I've been critical of management and the ownership group in the past but they're really working hard to make this club a force to be reckoned with and this must be acknowledged
Another announcement today at 9
Tim Payne has been given 2 more years
Been quality since he came in, definitely happy he'll be staying on
Important for culture of the club etc to have some solid Kiwi players signed up long term.
Aka Siggy, Tim Brown they don’t need to be world beaters, but in a way define what “the Nix stand for”.
The likes of McCowatt and Cacace will most probably head off overseas in the short term. If all the Kiwi players were younger and in that bracket, wouldn’t be great.
I'm happy to be corrected by someone with more knowledge, but have the Nix ever had this many players confirmed for fronting up to the next pre-season this far ahead of time?
I see some are a bit over the daily announcements. Personally, I love it.
And, really like Payne - great that he has seemingly stepped up so effortlessly (I'm sure that's not actually the case though). Alongside Rufer, I can see him becoming a key cog for the club, both as a player and as a culture setter.
