Wind caused a bit of havoc to be fair, thought HBU played really well and in no way embarassed themself, goals came late when HBU were giving many of there youth guy a run. Peverly was class, probably shadowed Ferrante and Plodder.

Hopefully.  Draper played far better at NZFC level.

Costa looked ok when he was bought on towards the end, playing wide. But in saying that most of the top HBU guys had been taken off by that stage

Pevs was getting right up Hearfield, much like he did to Gao in pre-season.

Others to take a turn for the Phoenix were Costa, Siggy and Imrrraaaaaaaaaayyyy.

The ref wanted Peverly subbed off at one stage but Mickey Ferrante came to his case and offered for me what is the line of the year so far, oh don't take him off ref! Probably a had to be there moment but was very funny

So Costa is the lowest ranked player in the club now (besides Vince Lia)? Not Draper?

How was Mully on the LB? Did Daniel do well up front?AllWhitebelievr2008-10-14 17:39:18

I think it may have been Hearfield up front, Unsure. and Mully was on the right sorry with Manny on the left

They were chopping and changing.  With Draper seeming to be on his own up front with a collection of mids running with him.  Hearfield replaced him up front for a while then Drapes came back on late.

Leo looked good, Manny looked good.  Daniel did some good things, Costa looked good when he had the ball.

not a bad game. but gotta give credit to the HBU guys. The score was tied to 1-1 until they made 3-4 subs, including their keeper. Their 2nd keeper went in goal and he was not up to standards i'm afraid. no. 7 (Pervs as you guys call him) is a class defender. He talks a bit too much, but I have to say that Hearfield himself was playing dirty too, i.e. pulling Perv's shirt every time, even when not needed and was talking back.

Daniel played a good 90. I think I saw Smeltzy's wife, very nice. Wanted to tell her that you can't beat Wellington on a good day, but I'm sure she can work that out for herself.

Manny Muscat is a bloody awesome player. He was player of the match if you ask me. Wonder if the Socceroos will ever give him a chance. I think he's much better than a whole lot of other full backs in the A-League.

Costa played well, he always beats his man and he tried his shot on a few occasions. Draper was fantastic. He made a lot of runs, created space and looked dangerous. he even got on the scoresheet. I really would love to see these youngsters in action on sunday. Even only for 10/15'.
I think they deserve it.

watching Mess today he confused me, why have a body like that and be seeminlg afraid to use it? Though i think the combination with him and Soromon up front could be a good one. Felt a bit for Central Defenders havign to judge the ball in the wind today, especially in the first 20 looked like the Nix guys who were playing into it were struggling to read where the ball was going to come down and its bounce

The big centre back they had on in the first half is still only 18 apparently, thought he did really well if that is the case. Agree with NZ Power, thought HBU looked more than decent

Gold actually, edge of the box. Kind of floated past the goalie, was just after they'd changed goalies but in saying that i dont think the other one would have stopped it either
