In case anyone's missed this, Phoenix are having their first hit-out of the pre-season against Stop Out at Porirua Park at 7pm tonight.

Apparently LM is Yianni Galanos from Heidelberg in the VPL.

Finn Milne playing LB.

Now 2-1 Nix.

Started:

--------------- Fulch
PATT---McKain---Dura---Finn Milne
Vinnie ------- Manny -------- Galanos
Ifill ---------Greenacre ------- Daniel.

Changes at the half:
Milne for Musa
Daniel for Marco
Galanos for Diego (I think).

About 20 in they made 5 changes including Jimmy Haidakis for PATT, Cory Chettleburgh and three others I'm not certain on the identity of.  Milne also came back on for Dura, then Marco got injured so they played the last five and conceded the late goal with only ten men.  McKain, Musa and Diego the only Phoenix players on the field by then.

Thought Musa looked good, composed on ball. For a youngster he is tall and strong.

Iced and hobbling but I think just lumped where he'd had the surgery so maybe just a bit tender.

Didn't have the best of starts, took too long with a fairly starightforward clearance from a back pass and belted straight in the Stop Out striker and very nearly bounced back for a goal.

While Stop Out scored two keeper did not really have a hell of a lot to do.whitby fever2010-06-02 22:35:24

It was quite good fun actually, thought Galanos seem quite well composed.

TOp marks to the random lady walking around in pyjamas, dressing gown, slippers and with a hot water bottle.

Phoenix playing Lower Hutt, 8pm Wednesday at Porirua Park next week as well, I believe.

Liked Musa. Seems to have a good football brain on him, and a pretty decent touch. Defended well, but wasn't really tested by any stretch of imagination.

Probably too lightweight for the A-league atm, but some good potential there.

Needs more Coey Turipa in goal.

If Musa was the guy who came off 5 mins earlly I was very impressed with his skills down the left wing; he was playing good, entertaining football.

When he came off, he took off his boots and already had a bandage round his instep, so i assume he aggravated an existing condition.

That was Marco Rojas, last years scholarship winner.  He's coming back from surgery on that ankle.  Musa was the taller, dark skinned lad playing behind him at left back.
