Hearts maybe the better footballing side, but I doubt they will beat Glory in Perth.

Depends what sort of team they can put out - there have been a few struggling with injury for them

Finals may not be traditional for football and not sure the finals format is particularly good but it's bloody exciting!

Back home now, kids in bed. Tomorrow will be interesting.

Crowd: Wgtn- give yourself an uppercut followed by a knee to the groin. 10k pitiful.

To the crowd that turned up - well done. Best noise at the RoF the whole season and shades of our play offs two seasons ago.

Game was pretty tense and somewhat scrappy - guess that is finals footy. Chianese is lethal, but we sort of went to sleep after going 2-0 up.

Would so like to see the Jam Tards at RoF next week - would be great way to finish the season in Wgtn.

Summed up exactly how I saw it too. Noisy as crowd that showed but hey, where were the rest? We got over 20k this time last year.

Magic Result...very intense, stressful, emotional rollercoaster of a game, those final 20 mins action packed.
Brown ...way to go out in style Tim! great to see you score and get the ball rolling..
Ben SigmUnd... does it again with another cracker header for goal
Paul Ifill... did what had to be done in a high pressure playoff game.. top shelf penalty.
Was almost completely quiet  in the Zone as Ifill went to take his penalty...
When he scored almost sounded and felt like 14/11/09  all over again!!

Commiserations Traitor,  Your team fought back very well. Deserved the applause they got from us in the Zone when they left the field.Top effort.

A few idle remarks after watching the replay: (1) 4 goals in 6 minutes - can't remember anything as dramatic as that in the A League before. Sydney scored their 1st just 25 seconds after the restart.

(2) It's like rolling a dice with Chris Beath. You just never know what he's going to do. Pings Lia for a perfectly legal, non-contact tackle from the side, gives Jamieson a harsh yellow but fails to follow up with a second for a much worse foul, inexplicably fails to give a yellow to Manny for blatantly checking Chiannese when he had got around him near the byline.

Also, how long did it take him to blow for the penalty? It took so long I swear it was actually going through his head, "Hmmm, everyone knows Ifill has been denied two of the most obvious penalties on record this season - if I don't give this one I'll never get out of here alive!". Either that or he is just a terrible ref because it didn't need thinking about.

(3) A goal for Siggy but also an assist I presume, since he headed the cross back for Brown to score.

(4) Yes, he should've scored, but, wow, Greenacre is an incredible glutton for work. He was everywhere, just an absolutely mighty display from the old fella.

Would like to see some highlights videos on YouTube, if anyone got a decent audio of the crowd singing.

I've gotta say,I was celebrating our goal so much I missed sydneys. When they equalized I briefly thought it was 2-1

Allegedly

I'm guilty of that too.

The screen confused me.
One second its showing the replay of the phoenix goal then next it cuts to live tv and Sydney celebrating.
Took me a while to put it together.

From our angle - behind the goal at the city end - we thought the ball had landed on the top of the net, there was no indication (groan) from the crowd.  It was only when Paston retrieved the ball from the back of the net - we knew something was amiss.  Seemed to take a long time for the stadium scoreboard to change from 2-0 to 2-1 as well.

Watching the replay - I wonder too if the stadium and sky tv clocks were in synch.  As just before the first sydney goal, I thought it was about 40 seconds or so to go until it was shirts off time at 80 minutes, but the sky tv clock was showing something like 78:40 or 50.   Perhaps that could explain some of the moaning from across the ditch about the missing 30 seconds of extra time?

Also, what is the shirts etiquette if the Phoenix get equalized after leading at 80 minutes?  We were just starting to argue the point when the penalty was awrded and made the discussion irrelevant.

Siggy definitely scored after 78:10 on the stadium clock, I remember going to take my shirt off, looking at the clock and having to hold on for another two minutes.

Shirts etiquette is that they stay off once they have come off.patrick4782012-03-31 09:15:39

It wasn't only this week but last week against CCM that the Sky TV clock and the stadium clock were off by 30 seconds. And yes, the apparently discrepancy is causing the Smurfs fans to go nuckin' futs. But they should sort that out before World War 3 breaks out.

I went to the SFC forum looking for cheap lulz and was disappointed. Just hateful people yelling about how a sh&t team like us shouldn't even be allowed on the same field as the Almighty Bling.

Yeah, sorry about that...

I know the Warriors aren't everyone's cup of tea but it would be better than nothing(?) I guess the other option is a cheaper season membership to reflect the fact that there are fewer games in Wellington. That's if, and only if, they are determined to take them around the country more - which I don't agree with by the way.

When Simon Doull hosted Ben SigmUnd and Tim Brown on the dilmah tea party during the test match I cringed when he said something along the lines of "well you two don't need to worry about the goal scoring side of things" and Ben and Tim just went with it...well Simon, if you didn't know before you should now, Siggy must be among the top scoring defenders in the league and Timmy the top scoring midfielders.

Anyway great game last night, come on you heart!

Fuck this stupid game
