Like Sillybich at Waitakere looking for answers, you don't have much of an idea whats going on about football do you??

I think its obvious we got thrashed by a better team. End of story.

There is no doubt that we got beaten by a better team. Doesn't mean that we didn't do a few things wrong and that those things shouldn't be placed in the memory bank for future encounters.

A semi pro team getting beaten by us 7-0 isn't comparable to us being beaten 6-1 to a team that has the same amount of money avaliable. I don't know who Sillybich is either.

Constantly saying i'm an idiot because I don't agree with your viewpoint is kinda childish btw.

Isn't football sobering? Victory against Victory last week and an unlucky* loss to Adelaide last night.

* = indefatigably optimist version.

Adelaide are class - a top AFC team, top of the table and unbeaten at home. They were given chances and they put them away, hence why they are unbeaten at home and a top AFC club.

Time to move on and just leave it there.

I havent bothered reading through the whole thread as it looks to depressing but Agent 47 I agree with you, sometimes things just all go wrong and you get beat in a blow out.

I actually dont think its a bad thing (apart from how it may affect our next home crowd). After 3 wins in a row the Nix were sailing along nicely but now have been given a good shake up and I'd sooner it happened now rather than 1 or 2 weeks out from the playoffs. Its a good time for the team/coach to sit down and evalute the level they are at now and were they need to get to to compete with the likes of Adelaide come the finals.

Lets do our bit on Saturday, forget last night, and get in behind them as they give the Gorly a hiding on Saturday night.

I love the way all the football "coaches" (on this forum) come out with their analysis of what went wrong, who should be shot, etc after a result like that. Unfortunately I don't see any of them actually coaching at anywhere like A-League level in the real world. Cracks me up.

My feeling after the game was the same as some previous comments. Acknowledge that this was a poor performance (and it was very poor)and move on. I haven't seen a lot of the Phoenix this season but there is no way that this Phoenix side is that bad.

Oh f**king jog on mate  having watched every game this and last season i can tell you we we're that bad last night and having played football for well over twenty seven years i have a pretty good idea of the game of football as well.

Yes,last night we we're beaten by a better team, but that doesn't mean we can't have an opinion as to why it went wrong, how little it really counts for in life  is another story.

Good call. And to be fair, the reaction after last night has been pretty mild - tinker with a selection or two, a tactical change here and there.

Very little of the angst, wrist-slitting, and "Sack Ricki" lynch mob mentality from earlier in the season.

Are we growing up and accepting that losses and dips in form are a fact of life?

Say it aint so.wolfman2008-12-07 00:09:48

No I'm not saying you're an idiot for not agreeing with me. I'm saying you are an idiot for saying idiotic things.

Read the forum. You are the only one suggesting that we sit down and digest this and figure it out.

That makes you an idiot. Add that to your commentary during the match which 'you shouldn't be held accountable for' and you showing that you lack football knowledge in these, enforces that point.

Talk about the pot and the kettle.

Having a different point of view from several others is perfectly fine on this forum and not  grounds for abuse.

Let me say that I think if the management of the team dont look at this match and learn something from it then they are bordering on negligent. You dont lose 6 - 1 and not learn something out of it, surely. Wouldnt you examine what sort of communication was happening on the field to tighten things up, call on players if support is lacking, have a plan to react faster if holes are showing etc?

I agree about being accountable for our comments on here and am often at people to think a bit more before they post.

I am getting around to accepting this loss by my team, and do the same for a few posts made injudiciously

Agree with all of that. And let's learn any lessons before we face the Glory who last night dicked Melbourne 3-1.

"Perth Glory breathed new life into what had been flimsy finals hopes in emphatic fashion tonight with a stunning 3-1 win over high-flying Melbourne Victory at Members Equity Stadium.

In desperate need of a win against a Melbourne side aiming to go back to the A-League summit, Glory produced a rousing display to climb off the bottom.

David Mitchell's side are now just four points adrift of fourth place with seven matches to play, while Victory stay second, a point behind leaders Adelaide United, who took over top spot with Friday night's 6-1 thrashing of Wellington."

wow wtf.

After I got back from the Melbourne game, my father called me to say that my Granmother had passed away, so I've been away tending to family matters until just after the funeral when my father - full of emotion - told me that the nix lost by 5 goals in Aussie.

I refused to believe him. It is the only nix game I have missed, I think I am glad that I did!

Ah, that was such an enjoyable night out. Brings back so many memories...really glum looking News, the bar pretty much emptying at half-time, blind optimism of some of us that we would come back and somehow manage to score 8...Good times.

Ok, from now on I will only say good thiings about the team. Even if we get trashed 10-0. Seriously - supporting a football team is emotional (sounds a little fruity), not necessarily logical. Posting on a forum like this is a place to get your thoughts out and everyone should be able to do it without people like you saying they are completely wrong etc.

Of course when we lose 6-1 people will say some negative things and not be happy about it. You don't have to hold a damn UEFA Pro license to support a team.

Please point out my 'lack of football knowledge' btw. That we were using the very similar tactics against Adelaide that we used against Melbourne and they weren't working? Looked like it to me in the first half. That we were defending poorly from set pieces? Pretty obvious as well. (one minute after I said it they scored from one)  I watched the replay and I admit that I was harsh on Muscat as he got no support and was often placed in 2v1 situations.

Everyone realises that you win some and you lose some. Sometimes you get hammered. Doesn't mean we have to like it.

Agree with the above to a degree.  Ofcourse we can all have our own opinions on it, but some people bend over backwards to sound like a seasoned veteran who knows the game like the back of their hand; spouting knowledge hither and thither to try to sound better.  Can be amusing, but also annoying.
