I'm looking forward to the away fans in Brisbane. Usually a good turnout and this guy will definitely be there:

I'm not sure there would be. Brockie Stein, Hogg and Paston get rested. Gameiro was always going to get a run. Moss was needing a shot to see what he bought to the table to compare against Paston (and Pastons been in the firing line recently conceding 12) Hogg was no better than Lochhead against the Mariners.
Other than Lia (and there is no real alternative) I don't have too much issue with that.

Sounds like Steinlager is completely out of favour now - that's a pretty mobile team apart from Ifill and Lia.

Either that or Gameiro has blown up in training and looking like a better player.

I feel sorry for Stein.

Conceivably if Pineys post comes true, you've got Sanchez, Smith, Totori, Stein and Brockie to put onto the bench (and Hogg, Boxall and Boyd)
When you look at those names and look at Lindsay and Downey, they ain't getting a shot anytime soon.

Brockie won't be on the bench this week.

That is a great starting XI and exactly how I would have had it, especially with Brockie out suspended.

Hogg wasn't better than Lochhead so I can see why he is dropped.

well that's two positive changes for mone, feel for Stein he has been the unlucky one, perhaps if he come on from the bench he'll get a chance to run at some tired defence?

Jr woke up at 5.30 this am and texted me to say he'd had a dream that he was the new signing for the Nix. What was that  , replied I. "IT's really good Dad because I really want to kick Berisha in the nuts ; this way I can" Oh , he's just turned 11.

Can't argue with his logic.

Lia would get demolished as the solo DM, I'd swap him with Manny.
Although I'd rather see Sanchez playing behind Ifill and Gameiro

Maybe a scape goat in your eyes but a lot of people agree he has just been absolute rubbish all year. Cant pass, cant cross, cant tackle, looks way too slow for that level etc. He has possibly been the worst in the regular playing squad YTD.

Interesting that after the 7-1 Ricki gave the starting team the chance to put it right (which they sort of did against Newcastle).

We lose 5-0 with non-Ricki favourites and they're straight out other than Paston.  There's just no consistency to this - I just can't understand what is driving these changes even if I can understand the team he's picked

I just don't really understand these changes to be honest - Lochhead especially.  Played in the 7-1.  Gets another chance vs Newcastle but gets sent off. He was suspended for Perth game but Ricki confirmed Hogg would have started anyway.  We win with Hogg having a decent game.  He retains his place in a 5-0 defeat, but then gets dropped.  I just can't really figure out the logic even if they are probably much of a muchness in terms of performance (neither good enough).  I'm not complaining - I'm just trying to make sense of it really

You can't base it only on their recent performances though. For all we know Lochhead is looking sharp in training, Hogg not so sharp. Hogg certainly has a lot to learn from what I saw.

Yes, of course that's true.  But not long ago Lochhead was dropped so he wasn't doing something right.  I guess it would be a pity for Hogg if that's his chance gone - if it is then probably both have to go at the end of the season

Hogg had more speed and his passing was better than Lochhead. Even though it isn't much of an improved, minuscule infact, I would still pick Hogg. Also, seems like Hogg gives a damn when he plays.

I would seriously question this, Hogg's passing against CCM was absolutely atrocious. To put it mildly.

According to 4-4-2 he only made 4 unsuccessful passes.  Durante and Lia were the two biggest culprits (I fully acknowledge the complete fallibility of that app though...)

Interesting. I remember a couple of occasions when he played simple passes straight to the opposition. And one when he somehow managed to hit a pretty straight-forward 7-8 yard pass to Fenton, with no pressure on either player, and managed to hit him somewhere on the hip, and Fenton was able to regather somehow as there was no CCM players around. So probably counted as a completed pass, but was a complete shocker.

hard to judge one player in that CCM game - they were all pretty poor

Ricki confirmed that Hogg would have started anyway against CCM (when Lochy was sick), not against Perth. That means that Hogg retained his spot, rather than Lochhead losing it.

Doesn't matter that we have been on a horrid run - I always get naively optimistic in the lead up to a new game.

My point exactly that i made to Luis Garcia and Steve-O and they never got back to me and this proves why! People bag players without actually looking at the facts. Easy to say a player is ''useless'' etc. Again i feel Hoggs bagging from some people is more of a personal issue rather than footballing. I said in earlier post that some of these ''throw out statements'' are nonsense. This goes for any player not just this kid Hogg.

I think their will be lots of rotation with players heading into end of season. Herbet has to decide who to keet etc. Herberts biggest problem is that he has players on his books that he no longer wants. I think he will have learnt that giving long term contracts to players isnt the way to go.
