I was impressed with how we responded to their goal - very poor defending by Siggy but we played better immediately after it.
GCU have dominated and if they finished better would be ahead so i'll take 2-1 at this stage any day of the week.
We need to improve in the second half, we've been sh*t so far.
Three for me, and two for them.

Um... at least we are winning! Entertaining to say the least, but we've been sloppy at the back.

this is a fun game to watch, but nervy!
I like tautologies because I like them.

Maybe we should take off MacAllister or Greenie and slot Hearfield at right back and Manny in the middle so we stop getting so dominated there?

Can I ask the informed a question about process.
To get to the pitch it would be assumed that
a: The person in charge of the game (is Bob Patterson still doing it?) has to say that its safe and
b: The teams have to agree its safe
So at what point, who steps in to call it off and for what reason. I can only assume if it starts getting dangerous for players?

shouldnt play both Greenie and D-mac play just one and put Manny back in the mid and Troy back in
or NHpeter agree with this post

Maybe haha. Actually didn't see that

Pissed off by their goal, first because Smeltz was unchallenged (Siggy claiming he was knocked in the back - must've learnt that trick from the Italians), secondly because the free kick was taken about 8 yards further infield from where the offence took place.
I like this new look Greenacre, but I have real misgivings about him and Mcallister as a front pairing.

Maybe this game should've been postponed? CCM have postponed games before because of a waterlogged pitch. It's dangerous for players and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more injuries
Take D-Mac off I reckon. Ifill too if he's badly injured..
If we win I wont care of coursevaleo2010-08-13 20:30:23

On balance, we've been slightly outplayed. Gold Coast have got forward rather easily and in dry conditions would've punished us more than they have. Though Smeltz we know is quality, the same can't really be said about the rest of them. Smeltz scored almost half of their goals last season and is clearly the man to watch.
Their defensive line don't seem too good and we've already seen one brain fade from Djulbic, a mixed game from Rees, and of course there's van den Brink.
If this home streak is going to come to an end, it will probably come early in the season. Whilst GCU do look good, so do we when we get forward.
Should be another great half.

They will struggle more in the econd half..fever end is wetter. Nix should attack down the left. Id save Hearfield for any injuries...

For those of us watching on TV
Is the wind/rain storm coming from the north or the south? will we have it our back in the second half?
This game is a lottery. We could easily see another 2 or 3 goals. You would have to say that GC has been more constructive. But we have the attacking players who will score given a half chance. I reckon Rickie will give the midfielders a good kick up the arse at half time and they will be better second half.
Go the Nix....I'm picking us 4-2
