I like the 343 concept.

But I would want to start caceres. My only problem is that  he doesn't offer the defense that we would need playing this formation... hmmmm

For me you could have 2 in defence v Melbourne as long as that meant you had about 6 guys in a circle around Hernandez constantly. Last couple of weeks he has been given far to much space in midfield and can run the ship from there. Sit Manny or Timbo on him and make sure he does not operate more than 5 foot away from either of them at any given time.

Looking forward to seeing Greeny and Eugene start together and hopefully Iffy just takes license to roam around the shop. Haven't seen the second half of the Perth game so wont comment on the Caceres/Bertos debate. In saying that though giving Boom Boom a break wouldn't be the worst of things heading into a pretty key 3 weeks, and it worked for him mid-season so no reason why it couldn't work again.

Whatever we do just don't play a high line like Perth! What a disaster that was..

Just in, Melbourne's line up:

Stabby Prick 1

Stabby Prick 2 - Stabby Prick 3 - K Musc**t - Stabby Prick 4

Stabby Prick 5 - Stabby Prick 6 - Stabby Prick 7 - Stabby Prick 8

Stabby Prick 9 - Stabby Prick 10

Bench:

Moss
Stabby Prick 11
Stabby Prick 12
Stabby Prick 13

i would prefer:

              Reddy
Hearfield McKain Durante Muscat
           Diego Brown
Ifill                    Caceres
           Dadi Greenacre

Bench:
The Crow
Bertos
Sigmund
Barbarousus

Muscat is not good enough to play in midfield. Hearfield seemed to have no confidence in his left foot, but has done well at right back (although I think he is best on the wing). Diego (while being below average this season) is the best option to replace Lia in midfield. The other options (Ferrante, Lolligan) are not good enough and playing a defender out of position (McKain, Muscat) doesn't work.

If Greenacre is as awful as he was against Perth then haul him off early for either Costa (straight swap) or Bertos (with Ifill going up front).

Do this, Ricki.

nix are paying 6$ for the win, thats good value i think
playing an attackng formation
and we ahve done well against melbourne this year
i also think melbourne hme form is not the best this season (got better recently)
so i know where my money is
(also bet on the opzzies to win the cricket so worst situation is i break even, best i come out laughing )

Could be wrong here, but I'm sure McKain came to us as a defender/midfield player.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

McKain can't pass, though. At all. You would think that's a requirement for a central midfielder

Tend to agree, but I'm sure that's how he was described when he arrived.

"bonus game" and "all out attack" seem to be a precourser to saying oh well it didnt really matter that we lost.  3-4-3..might have worked for AWs but I doubt it against Victory.

Two questions here:

1) Why are they called Stabbies?
2) Why is this considered a bonus game?

Greenhorn.

as long as we keep the centre of the park jammed the wings will be free for us to roam.

I think playing a 3-4-3 would actaully be quite smart because Melbourne probably haven't had a team play so attacking against them at home.  This should in theory be quite a free flowing match.

herbert has said that he is opting for an attacking formation, so.....

                                              reddy

                                  hearfield     dura     siggy

                                                 muscat

                                brown/lia                        caceres

                                                    ifill

                                           greeny       dadi

subs
crowther
bertos
mckain
brown/lia

really sad for me not to include bertos, but he has not bin playing upto his potential lately, so we might be better starting him on the bench and bringing him on early second half

it was a really hard decision, but hearfield doesnt really impact much in the left back position, he is much more attacking on the right, and i think siggy is better in the left back position than mckain, who mainly plays in the centre back

Now there's a surprise. Would have expected Caceres before Diego.

Diego might add a bit of vision/passing in the centre

a Caceres/Iffil/hearfield  trio would see a few defenders gone round a few times but might see a lack of creative passing from the centre (i.e. the Lia role)

ricki's call might be about balance/shape as well as form
