I seriously don't know which was this game will go. Either the Phoenix will get pumped, or they'll put on a good show. Not sure which yet.

I can't see our defence holding out against the might of Robbie Kruse...

Sorry, poor joke.

At training they'll be extra motivated, especially Dadi so hoping for something good and that they don't try another 4-3-3, that had fail written all over it.

It will be interesting to see the line up Herbert goes with against Melbourne. I suspect the line up will be selected with one eye on the Adelaide game i.e. making sure we are relatively fresh for a game we should win (even playing in ChCh).

I suspect Dadi will be rested - not because of his performance against Perth but because his 36 year old legs won't take 3 games in a week and we need him to start against Adelaide. I also suspect Bertos will go the bench - again to rest him but also because of poor recent form.

I'm picking;

                    Reddy

Hearfield  Durante McKain Muscat

                   Lia    Brown
Caceres         Diego / Daniel         Ifill
                     Greeny

Diego central or Daniel wide / Caceres central - depending who starts.

Bench;
Crowther
Sigmund
Bertos
Costa

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

We should only play 4-3-3 if both fullbacks get forward and attack. Siggy is a good player but didn't suit that system at all.

How long is Lochhead out for?

You know we belong together...

Got a bit of a fright when I saw the expected high will be be 34 degrees on Tuesday, but hopefully the cool change rolls through early as predicted otherwise we are going to have a tough old time.

Also looking forward to the game. Have just taken delivery of my new stab-proof vest for a mere 510 rand.

I heard he's actually on trial with Otaki. They aren't too keen on him though, so looks like he's staying with the Phoenix.

Stack the defence and go for the draw............I agree Dadi should be "rested" and that we give Caceras another start.

I can't understand that more people don't rate Caceras, I think he is one of our best players.

Caceres is brilliant.

How long is caceres contracted to us for? I think he is one under- rated player who just needs a particular club to settle at - preferrably, ours.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Lia out for this match and for the Adelaide game in Chch after picking up his 8th yellow card on Friday night.

8 yellow cards in 23 games  (less the games he was suspended and injured).

Big loss for mine - only one of our CM's with any sort of passing ability and we need to crowd the midfield to stop Hernandez. I'd replace him with Diego.

We would be absolutely killed with only Brown in the middle - way too much space to allow Hernandez

It's not about 1 bad game. its about 3 games in 1 week and trying to get greenie up to speed before the playoffs

Would have thought the amount of yellow cards before a two game suspension should increase after 21 rounds too.

Michael, you've obviously been sucked into the Dadi Bandwagon. I always knew people would get sucked in after that 1st game. Bloody useless and cocky

Id suggest you're getting sucked in to the Dadi hating bandwagon. We havent seen enough of him in a nix shirt to know if he fit into our side for sure. Im sitting on the fence,i see bad signs, but then he scores a goal and all is forgiven. He is also great in the air, which is something we need.

Mulligan to make the bench,

He can cover both rb and lb, and from what i heard (missed the last game, thankfully) Siggy did not work out on the right.

If either manny of hairy get injured someone has to take a fullback role and he has the most experience there on both sides in the camp.

Still wont happen though, better chance of Helen Clark winning a beauty contest.

NQF having their whole first choice defensive lineup out for most of the season could give you a run for you money on that call AJ

So true.

For me I'm pro-Dadi.  His first two games showed us that he has the experience to get into the right position to receive our aerial passes, he's got some good touches and can beat defenders.

That game over there this weekend was bad on so many fronts, Dadi was just part of the overall meltdown.

My concern is that he can put that ATROCIOUS penalty behind him (if not the keeper) and get in the right head space for the upcoming games.  Actually applies to the whole team.

Long-term.  He's shown he can last 90 minutes but can that be done week in, week out over a whole season?  Still he does add so much to the up front combinations.

Dadi is the black Shane Smeltz. Shane did so well here because he could just touch in crosses all day. (and of cause some class goals as well)

Dadi does the same.

The key thing with Dadi up front is it gives Greenacre that other striker he and we have been craving all year, to work off of. Dadi may or may not be a goal scoring superstar hero, but its the dynamic the pair create with Dadi being the target man and Greenacre running off. You can hit a bullet at Dadi and he controls it well. With someone that has half a clue running off of him, thats what he has been bought in for. Thats what we've been waiting for. Why not try it now against Melbourne away from home. The odds are against us so what little do we have to lose?

Positive enough for you tegal? twat

To be honest I think we should probably be focussing more on the defensive side of this game rather than our strikers. Melbourne away is probably the toughest fixture other than Sydney.

I would like to see Sigmund back into CB, hopefully to kill Kruse, then Mckain, Brown and Diego to pack the midfield, maybe have one of them man marking Hernandez. Have Ifill to play a free role in front of them and put Greeny and Dadi up front to play as long ball targets.

Although this would have absolutely no width and we would need to rely on hearfield or muscat to get forward to get crosses in. I think that playing Caceres or Bertos would severely weaken our defense and pressure through midfield, and this is probably a game where we will need to defend quite a bit.

Probably a bit too much of a FM10 formation, with the lack of wide midfielders, but I'm struggling to see how we will able to cope with the melbourne midfield if don't have more defensively inclined players.

You've got to be joking about Dadi being great in the air.  Unless by good in the air you mean good at jumping and missing the ball.
