for news organisations (ie: our national TV provider) to report a
certain quota of non-rugby/netball/NRL stories. Without getting too
animated about this particular situation but isn't it more
important to NZ that we get a report on our country's only
professional soccer team over a report on David Beckham playing 15
minutes in another friendly in LA?

preseason,I cant seem to recall any thing on last nite about wgtns
preseason game against auckland played friday nite. Anyway if we

The difference between the Auckland Wellington rahrah and the NIx
Bling, is that it is a preseason COMPETITION, ala the old NRL
preseason comp which was well covered, live TV etc. Just keep your
heads up, there is zip all you can do about it, it aint going to
change until the A League has bedded in a few years longer.

As for that stupid air hostess Swanson Roe - 5-0 to the
Phoenix ???? reported on Prime. Unfortunately most NZ media don't
have a clue about soccer.

The sports editors at both TV1 and TV3 have their heads so far up
their f**king arses that their adams apples' are their noses.
They seem to believe that a victory over Australia in netball
is a major blow to their sporting psyche when in reality
- Aussies consider it a "dull minority sport that nobody

I know this has been touched on but it is almost as if there is
some sort of (subliminal) mindset from Media Rugby Heads
where they see Football as some serious threat to the domination of
Rugby.
Using that rational, Therefore,it makes sense to denegrate a
sport when things aren't 100% and ignore when they are going
well.
Happens too often to be a nonsense.
"Opinion creates Opinion" and the media are well aware of
this.

OK, I hear what you guys are saying but...
The NPC warm-up game between Wlg and Akl at the same venue
(and with twice as many people there) also got no coverage on TVNZ
and TV3.
Tonight's sports news did have a lot on it; Bledisloe test, AB
World Cup squad announced, a wierd netball test, Open golf,
Warriors, Hamilton crashing etc... Pre-season friendlies
don't cut it with that lot.
BTW, the Beckham thaing probably made it because there were no
Royal Family stories tonight

It's fair enough to say that it shouldn't of been shown because it
was just pre season - but it had a lot more significance than that.
It was the Phoenix's first win ever, their first game on home soil
and the A-League pre season is actually a competition.

They talked about it here on SBS, THe World Game when they were
going through all the games in the preseason cup....You can tell by
the look on Craig Fosters face that he was surprised that the
Phoenix won, Didn't really say much about the phoenix except that
they played well, mainly went on about Sydney

It's NOT fair enough that it wasn't shown. It was preseason, but it
is a preseason COMPETITION, not a f*cking warm up game, like the
rugby. TV used to show the NRL preseason competition not only on
the news, but as live coverage, until it was canned and would
continue to do so.
Australian media have always given the A League preseason
COMPETITION, proper coverage and still do - and there is no excuse
for the NZ TV media not to do the same.
I am not counting the press and the radio in this, the
coverage so far has been spot on.
So also be precise with your criticism, the media is more than
just one faction and the DO read this.

i wonder what tv would have done if they had lost or only a handful
of people turned out - those fisheads at tv (both channels) will be
wanting this team to fall over as it is not in auckland!!! it is
frustrating as someone from another successful sporting code which
also struggles for airtime in this country -
