Hi All, i am a NQ Fury fan asking for your help.
I am sure you all know the financial problems of the Fury at the moment. currently there is a proposal being put to the Townsville City Council asking for their financial assistance. There have been many negative comments from league fans about this moeny being used for the Fury here in TSV and a major concern that the council will bow to their pressure.
I have created a webpage that will act as a petition to take to council at their next meeting to show support for financial aid to the fury.
Please click the link below and lend your support to keeping the Fury in the A-League next season.
I'm sure you would agree that the league cannot afford to lose a club during the world cup bid year.

Thanks in advance,

Crewcut.

Sounds like a great idea, some mug council bailing out a failing sports team. What could go wrong...

If the council bails them out,and they fail again...Itd be a terrible image for the sport in that area.

Allegedly

oh dear.. not more public money to bail out sports... sorry NQF. Franchised/club sport lives and dies by the support of its fans, not on the basis of taxes..

If they had a decent squad not just one player then things could have been different.

happy to sign and I have done

2 issues though:

1. the franchise needs to be able to stand on its own 2 feet not just this year but fr the forseeable future. If all you can get is the cash for one more seasonthen all you are doing is delaying the inevitable

2. Why do the NQL counsel or whoever this is care about what people outside the region think? Ultimately isn't it just the people who contribute the money that is being spent that matte (i.e those in the region?)

In normal circumstances i would agree, but the history of this town is that the council has propped up the NQ Cowboys rugby league team for years when they were failing and now the RL fans are whinging that we should not get support, tha'ts the only reason i am supporting the case for the Fury.

Are you sure there isn't a North Queensland property developer who could bank roll the Fury? He could be getting his hair cut as we speak!

Best of luck with the petition, Crewcut!

So, if I sign, does that mean I'm allowed to wear my club colours when I'm on your patch?

Wont sign that.

NQF need to find a ownership/funding model that will keep the club going long term or else pull the plug on the club now.

I have kind of missed this whole issue - why are they in such trouble?

I thought their crowds were ok if unspectacular? How many people were they expecting?

Also, is Fowler staying on?

Their main backer pulled the plug.  Equivalent of Terry pulling out (that's what she said)
