I would love to get a WPFC one!!!
That is an awesome idea. Any idea who would be able to make
them Philstyle?
Excellent example of the St George flag with the The Hatters team
name on it Phil style!!!!
thats ludacris that we cant make our own flags up, what if we just
mutate a NZ flag?? like the union jack one above
I think the A-Leagues rules are that your not allowed National flags of countries other than Oz and NZ I suppose (The link to their supporters code of behaviour isn't working).
Now - buy changing the colours of say the union flag - it then isn't the flag of another country as the colours are different and should be fine - if they argue it isn't then they would have to ban all flags with three bands of colour - as they would be the French, Irish, Italian, Cote d'Ivoire national flags in different colours.
Anyway - union flags in club colours are traditional right through europe - esp eastern europe, and as a Scot I'm not the world biggest fan of the red, white and blue union flag - but I do think it looks kinda cool in yellow, black and white.
Phil,
political banners dont get bad press, last game greece played in
turkey turkish fans had banners saying "Greece gold medals in
swimming 1922" reffering to the ethnic cleasing in Izmir, also many
on Cyprus. I'll try and find the pic.
much as it pains me to say anythign positive about a St George's
cross... AVFCVilllain, your flag idea is very cool
I'm think of getting this made up...
Somebody reckoned the only national flags allowed at games are
Aussie or Kiwi ones - which make sense cos otherwise you'd get the
Balkan suppporters tearing each other to shreds
NZ styled local club flags
So we've all seen the St Geroge flag with club names printed on
them:
So hows about we adopt the idea using the Silver-fern flag
here starting with:
And maybe folks can make banners/ flags with their local club
ie:
Just an idea. Might be nice to start seeing these pop up at
A-League, International and NZFC games around the country - world.
. . . . I think I'm gonig to make a WPFC one to take to the UK with
me!
I'm think of getting this made up...
These guys have a shop in Thorndon. We could maybe get discounts
for large orders:
If we can come up 2 or three real classic designs we should
approach them to get 20 or 30 made up and sell them to YF members
at cost . . . are there folks who would be keen ?
I suspect flags would be around $40-50 each depending on size.
. ..

Not by design I'll have you know. It was the first one that
came up on the google search. . . .
I'm no graphic designer but a Brazil flag in our colours and
with Phoenix FC on it would be good.
Actually, now that I think about it I'm pretty the A-Leauge
doesn't allow flags unless they are of NZ, Australia or
an A-League team.

Um, good that you're pretty...
Glad you agree.
Those flags look cool by the way
Like the idea, can we not have the Union Jack on it tho?
Something kiwi please....
ill make one in photoshop
I really want to see a Flag made. So i thought up an idea. this is
not my final design so please place feedback on how i can improve
on it!... Image Below

Straight from the FFA's Spectators Code of Conduct
(g) not, and must not attempt to, bring into a venue national or political flags or
emblems (except for the recognised national flags of any of the competing teams)
or offensive or inappropriate banners, whether written in English or a foreign
language;

does this mean that the silver fern flag wouldnt be allowed as it is an emblem but it isn't the recognised (official) national flag of a competing team....or would it be ok as everyone knows that most kiwis use it as a national flag??? (especially seeing as the stadium guards should by and large be nzers)

"except
for the recognised national flags of any of the competing
teams"Doesn't really make it celar what
"recognised" means. .. . The Silver Fern is not recognised by
th NZ Govt but is recognised by NZ sports authorities such
as:
NZ
Olympic Comitte: http://www.olympic.org.nz/Article.aspx?ID=3783
NZ Rugby
Union: http://www.nzrfu.co.nz/
I
might send a polite letter to the A-League, see if we can get an
official ruling on the subject.
...I doubt it will be that strongly policed here.

Are you joking?
Just take a flag to the game. If the security drag you out the
back and give you a kicking you'll have your answer.
Have you read the Aussie press lately?
They're going ballisitic about this sort of stuff over the
ditch
(see here: http://www.convictcreations.com/football/battlesoccer.html,

after the race riots last year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Cronulla_riots).
I don;t think the extent to which the FFa have gone is really
very rational, but still it would pay to check what we can cannot
do for sure. You know how big organisations are so desperate to be
seen doing the "right thing" lately.. . .
And BTW the club gets pinged if the fans mis-behave. I
couldn't really care less if they take my flag away, but we don't
want the club taking the rap do we?
Phil,
I say you just take in a silver fern flag and if the
A-League bosses say we have to remove them, we whinge. I'm sure we
could get get plenty of media leverage out of it and free
adveretising for the Phoenix.

Yeah I'd do this if was certain the club wouldn't get
into any trouble. . . . Personally I don't give a crap if some
steward has a beef with me. . .

Im keen for NZ flag manipulation but lets leave out all other
nations please, i know many of us have other backgrounds but
we are all NZers arent we??
Trust me, they won't. I've been to a Knights game with a mate who had an English flag tied to the fence and we were just asked to fold it up and hide it.

Mate, I'm not sure we're on the same page here. What political
banner? What other nation? All we want to do is have a silver
fern.
You're not related to WPFC OR DEATH by chance?
Going on the St George Flag this is a simple idea and wouldnt cost too much if you really wanted to make one along these lines.

Thank-you and I tip my hat to you mtedenkingz.
some one said politcal/national banners are banned, i thouhgt the
union jack was the UK flag???? also the st george crossis england
is it not?????
all i need is a wellywood scarf and a doz of DB.......or flame
whatever is cheapest
Interesting stuff Phil, Ill be bringing along my brazil flag for
sure I doubt a brazilian flag will cause any problems

taht flag lookes wicked! please get it made!
Well I think as long as the country is not at war it should be ok.
Brazil has its problems but they are internal, I think you could
take it all the way to court and win and maybe make a little
publcity for the Fenix and its brasileiro imports!! haha
make a NZ flag up in black and yellow but have above
union jack in the top corner, that way we all get what we want.
its likely the greeks will take flags so please take a
brazilian one for flavour
Melbourne Victory had a brazilian flag when we had brazilians,
dont think there was any trouble there.
i have a PAO flag which is a greek one too, ill try and find a pic
