Hey guys, without coming across too spammy, I'd thought I would share the app that my team have been furiously developing over the past weeks for the Football United Tour.

Basically its your go-to guide for all Football United things, with the nix guys feeding in all the latest stories, videos and match commentary. We've also got player profiles for all the players in each team.

If you have an iPhone you should go download it now!

And yes sorry, there is no android version available.. we wanted to do it, but the times and costs involved just made it impossible!

Hopefully next year we can get that one across the line!

YF should co-op you into helping out with their app.

Does it have a "Kick The Topp Twins In The Butt" game?

I imagine that's in the player bio sections?

feel free to post them and i can probably fix them up. The nix staff were in charge of providing content  so don't look at me :) .

The old "develop first for iOS" mantra is massively out of date.

But I can understand the Nix doing what they've done. Not a load of experience and would have been led by the nose to do iOS. I think everyone in the Nix office is on an iPhone too.

Not a biggie, but they've overlooked a huge chunk of the fan base.

I should just say too, that it's bloody easy to be a hater.

Good on the Nix for doing this at all!

Bit bizarre when the club's main sponsor is Huawei.

You know we belong together...

Tbh, for a bit of insight into the production, we had both iOS and android lined up, began working on iOS first because we had other android projects that hadn't finished at that point, then found out we were not going to get any sponsors for the apps.. we could have ended up not releasing on either platform, but decided it was better that we completed the development cycle on the iOS.

It was a bit of a fight to make sure we did release what we did because its hard to prioritise a project when there is other paid work coming in. We are sort of hoping that this app can be sucessful enough that there could be more future projects and apps (across all platforms! :p)

Yeah it is. There's so many it would take up too much space to post them all.. But it's really not that important anyway. Apart from that it's a nice app.

That makes total sense! There's always shit going on that those of us out here in the world can't know. Cheers for the insight.

As I say, easy to hate (and I'm guilty of that all the time). Kudos to the Nix for doing something, which is more than nothing, which is choice.

Hmmm I don't hate it, I think it's a great idea. I didn't know us Android types actually ruled the market by that big a gap. Perhaps this is a project for the club to consider for this season in general or the season afterwards?

Yes there are more Android phones but developers are interested mainly in the $$$. iOS app store produces 5x more revenue than Google Play, which is why developers still look to develop iOS first...

If the Nix are looking for someone to develop an Android app, I know a guy that has experience in developing Android apps for football people...

There would be a few hurdles to get over, mainly from the FFA and their need to control everything. With the Optus partnership finishing, there is a huge gap in the digital media side of things. There was no official A-League app last season.

Not particularly relevant for a free app though Dougie.

Agree in this instance, but you state - The old "develop first for iOS" mantra is massively out of date.
