Been some talk about an Auckland chapter, and since JAFFAS are orange, I thought that might be a good name for us KK refugees, Bloc 5 etc. Also a place to meet when we can't get down to Ringsville, and Newmarket Cock N Bull which is near the train station from both West and East, is close to town and has GUINNESS and better barmaids than the Albion.
ANy other suggestions, hints, abuse et al

I thought Newmarket was the best place, being near town, and on the rail route, SOuth, West and East. Most of the buses go there, including the link.
Cock and Bull could be one place but there are plenty of bars, The Claddagh, Monteiths Alehouse, etc.
Just a suggestion

But not North.

I'm happy with what ever the consensus is. I only thought of North Shore pub cos thats where I live and taxi won't be too expensive if I get sh*tfaced.

Good stuff fellahs.  Would also be ggod to get some kind of organised support for the All Whites seeing as they will hopefully be playting some games at home this year.

Very true. Would be great to organise something for the AW's. Need to gauge the number of Aucklanders on here.

For you aucklanders I would go with SCARLET FEVER being that it is very similar to jaffa colour!!!

HN, I always associate the Bloc with Auckland teams, and still do - to me this is a new enterprise, and I'd like to think in the future, 5 to 10 years, we might get an Auckland team back in the show. Then the Bloc can rise in mighty voice again, or for AW games. Personally I don't give a sh*t what we call it, but I also think that, to some extent we are pushing into what is essentially the Wellington boys domain now, and I feel a little bit uncomfortable at that. But that is just a personal opinion, I'd just like to sit and have a beer with some football fans while the game is on, at a pub, preferably with Guinness and with barmaids that aren't always PMS and butt ugly.

Might need a recco one night, go and talk to some bar managers, see how they feel about making a commitment to showing the football. Have had problems in the past getting football on - especially when there is egg-chasing on the other channel. Trendy bars tend to be just that, and football fans may not be their target market.

Methinks the Irish bar just around the corner may be amenable to some extra income (I think its called the Claddagh)

Ah ha, the old Claddagh. Bit of a dark and dingy old hole, but I like it!

I reckon they'd be up for showing the games, as long as there wasn't any rugby on. Might even make the odd trip in there to watch a game or two, tho' I don't reckon I'll be getting s***faced, 'cos a taxi home to Pukekohe would be a 2nd mortgage job.

The only problem with the Claddagh is that, although it has copious quantities of Guinness, it has the grumpiest, butt ugly barmaid in the whole of NZ.
But I reckon it would be a grand place to watch the games.

Never know your luck Daikiwi, as long as it isn't at the expense of the Pheonix.

Definitely NOT at the expense of the Phoenix. I think for the sake of the league, at some point it has to grow from eight teams, which is way too small to at the very least 12 teams. But using the successful one-team, one-city formula of John O'Neill's which has so far been extremely successful. And to keep the quality up, that means options are very limited in Australia.
Markets that could support a team are only a handful, Gold Coast, Canberra, Townsville and perhaps Hobart - that would make 12. But Auckland is a bigger market, and with more potential than any of those 4.
If Wellington is a success, and I am sure it is and will be, then it will eventually get even the long-suffering Auckland football fans clamouring for a team.
What a rivalry that would be, Can you imagine it, the Bloc in full voice, the Fever in full voice, 15 - 20,000 fans singing and watching a good game of football. By that time Ryan Nelsen would have retired from the Premier League and come back as a marquee player, and the likes of Simon Elliot, Duncan Oughton, Ivan Vicelic, David Mulligan, Rory Fallon, Chris Bougenhooge and Chris Killen would have returned home, like all those Aussies have (Popovic, Muscat, Moore, Tiatto etc).
After watching, then having a friendly drink in the bar afterwards.
Wake me up or slap me please.

For the Aussie to even consider an Auckland team ever again the Phoenix would have to be a real success. Last thing we need is another failed NZ franchise...

Would be cool tho - an NZ derby match

I was thinking of you as I wrote that. We'll have to find a spot behind the goals, and get you a half and half jersey.

I'd be a Phoenix fan first, but would need a Beanie or a t-shirt that was half Yellow Fever and half Bloc 5.

ah, no.  Despite the evidence I have some standards.

I have worn a Knights shirt twice in my life, and I suspect it may get a third chance and that could be the death of it...
