Okay guys, who's gonna contact the Brewery to organise our own
Label for the start of the season. Forget Lion Red, Lion
Brown, and what's that other bird?......umm oh yes Tui. I
want my Phoenix Yellow on tap. SERIOUSLY. Actually, not
a silly idea (picks up phone.......)
Sounds good, at the bar, "I'd like a dose of Yellow Fever"
or
" A pint of Pheonix".
Okay what I'd really like is some Old Speckled Hen!!!
Very cool idea! Monteith's Brewery was originally known as Phoenix Brewery so it would be fitting if they became sponsors and even release the 'Phoenix Yellow' maybe as a replacement to their Summer Ale.
http://www.monteiths.co.nzAnybody want to ring DB and find out if they're keen to rebrand an existing Montieths beer with the Phoenix Label? I suggest the "Golden" as a good option. They could probably put out a limited re-labelled release without too much fuss.
BTW: DB own Montieths for those that were
wondering.

Wouild be great to have a Pheonix lables beer, but it has to be
good! beer, so that put Montieths out of the picture.
How about Macs Gold & Black.

I can see this turning into a "which beer is best" debate.
There's no way everyone is going to agree on a beer cos people have
their own loyalties/ tastes/ preferences. Perhaps the best way is
to single out all the beers that are definite No-Go's. Personally I
would exclude Macs and Montieths from that list becasue I think
BOTH brands are a reasonable quality (by NZ standards).
So for my definite No-Go sugestions I would have:
Tui
Lion Red
Lion Brown
DB Draught
Speights (gold)
Was having the same though yesterday, and now there's a thread on
it. You're never going to please everyone with the beer itself, so
let's keep the ground rules simple.
No warm beer, and no plastic containers.
Please.

Being a POM I luv warm beer, but it's a crime to drink from plastic
cup, but i'm afraid the bars in the stadium canonly sell in plastic
bottles.
Speights (gold)??? if its the normal one your talking bout its just
Speights. And i take it if thats on the no go list were looking at
the more "classy" beers considering what else is on Phil's
list.
why dont we just print a whole heap of phoenix labels off and stick them on to our own beers then we dont have to agree on one particular beer and we can all have our favourites?

That might be the go. What about Phoenix coldie holders, would actually be easier and more permanent than a bunch of labels.
luvin the idea of our own labels the coldie holders are abit naff
tho!
This is a Wellington team, so we need a Wellington beer.
The chances of getting a smaller brewery to be a sponsor is unlikely. So Bennetts and Tuatara are probably out - that is a shame.
However, maybe Macs, as part of Lion, would do a special beer - they do seem to like to experiment a little.
I am fed up of the poor beer constantly forced on the visitors to the stadium, so please no Tui, Red or, gold

nuh too much trouble, i'll whip up a downloadable label and then
just get some glue and stick it over another beers label.
and i doubt you'd have enough numbers/market to do a special run at a brewery.

Does the stadium have contracts with certain breweries over what
they can sell?
I think you'll find that the Phoenix are able to negotiate
with the breweries on who has stadium rights - so it might not be
the beers you are used to getting there.
