Does anyone else find the stewarding around the Fever Zone to be a tad OTT at times? Yesterday was becoming utterly farcical at times with common sense apparently not in the job description of Red Flag employees.

Firstly, there were 3 of us who bought tickets at the same time, 1 ticket was for Aisle 22, and the other 2 were for Aisle 21, all in the Fever zone. I don't know how we didn't get tickets together but we never realised until in the stadium. Anyway, the match was hardly a sell out, so we thought we'd sit together anyway and went to go through Aisle 21. My friend with the Aisle 22 ticket was told he HAD to go through Aisle 22. So, he simply went in there, walked along a row of seats and met up with us. We then sat in the almost empty section 20 and nobody bothered us.

However, the most ridiculous thing was yet to come. Another mate, who was late for the game showed up about 30 minutes into the game. He must've come in Aisle 19 or basically the first one he saw when he got there, spotted us in section 20 and walked along the row towards us. He was then accosted by a steward who asked to see his ticket. Now here is the crazy part, he was already at our seats, and had a fever zone ticket, but the steward insisted he walk out through Aisle 20, and come back in via Aisle 22!!! The guy would not take no for an answer, so my mate was forced to leave via 20, come back in via 22, and then walked along and sat beside us, where he had originally been a minute earlier! He came back in in full view of the same steward, who did nothing!

My other mate with the Aisle 22 ticket went out Aisle 21 for some fish and chips, obviously the 2 stewards there seen him leave, but then 2 minutes later they would not let him back in, and he had to go round via 22 as well!!

Absolute madness, and we were not the only ones as absolutely loads of people were stopped by the same steward at the bottom of the steps at Aisle 20. These were people who just wanted to stay in the sun, and saw there were LOADS of empty seats, but they were not allowed to sit in them! However they were allowed to sit literally 2 feet away across the aisle!!

Red Badge's argument will be they were just obeying the rules and stadium policies. Stupid? Maybe/Yes but you know thats how it goes for people on power trips

Indeed, but I am sure nobody would either ever know, or complain about it!

If the steward had picked on the wrong person for that sort of thing it could've ended up in a completely unnecessary incident.

short answer is yes they are over-zealous IMO.
It is the FFA seating rules which are driving it I believe - as I asked Nix to relax the guard dog rule on the weekend but it couldnt happen

It all goes back to the issues they've had with our mates across the ditch (yes, thats you KP) and historically with the NSL... they're the same at Suncorp and yet there's never been any sort of crowd trouble... at least not along the lines of what the Mexicans get up to.

The majority pay for the actions of a few (muppets).

I still don't get it though? Fair enough if it's people without Yellow Fever tickets trying to get in there, but this was people with Fever tickets that were made to go in a different door for no reason whatsoever! All it does is annoy people and like I said before, it has the potential to cause trouble if it's some drunken idiot who is getting hassled from a steward.

I disagree with all of you.

I've had my (fairly public) rants at Red Badge in the past but I think this season they've been remarkably sensible.

Yesterday, for example, my kids' team came to the game as a team trip.  A couple of them had zone tix, but most not.  One of the dads spoke to the Red Badge dude on Aisle 21 and said "look, I've got a bunch of kids here, can we sit down the front and we'll move if necessary."  Red Badge dude said "yeah sure, it's hardly a sell out."

Very pragmatic.

Steve-O I can only assume you got a new guy, or a dumb guy, or something, because I've had no problem with them at all this season.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I'm not disagreeing with you Steve-O... quite the opposite. Just stating some of the piss-poor reasoning as to why the stewards so ridgedly stick to such ridiculous policies which are so glaringly lacking any sense of logic.

They let Feverish in the stadium dressed as a Cow and too drunk to say his own name.

They've relaxed: fact.

it's funny how many more Red Badgers are surrounding the feverzone when we're winning in comparison to when we're down.
I think the varying stories (ie Steve-O vs Smithy) show one thing - inconsistancy
You know we belong together...

Yea I dunno, sounds like you just got a nazi Steve-O.  All those guys dressed as sheep, cows, wolfs, bunny rabbits etc - they were all in Aisle 23 - but after half time half of them came over into the zone - the red badge guys did nothing - it wasn't like they "blended in"

The guy dressed as a bunny rabbit stuck out like a big single dog bollock.  Red Badge did nothing.

Last season i was standing up in the stand next to yellow fever and the stewerd told me to sit down. I asked why and they said so that other people could see. There was no one behind me for atleast six or seven rows back and when i pointed that out to him he threatened to kick me out.

soon they will be telling us off for yelloing too loud or something.

I agree actually, they've been a lot less 'visible' than last season. Although the anecdotes of the threadstarter are pretty ridiculous.

Watched a guy get moved from Aisle 21 who had probably 10 SEATS either side of him. He must have been causing a real problem.......

Perhaps it was because he was sat down in the Fever Zone - a horrendous crime!!

How ridiculous! I just go and sit where I like every week, and never even look at my ticket.
I was sitting way over the far side of the stadium, but late on walked round the seats all the way to the Fever zone.

Almost as ridiculous as me being told last week by the ticket seller at the stadium that I had to have my 4 year old on my lap as she didnt get her own seat!

Everyone started saying "give him a break"

Thought it mustve been because of the contraband hotdog he had (if this was you),since a minute later he was back sitting with you.

Allegedly

You knew it was a contraband hot dog because if it was a stadium bought one he would have either been doubled up in agoney or stretched out on the floor.

So that's what was going on. We were among the people booing and calling for him to be allowed to stay as there were loads of empty seats at the bottom end of aisle 20. We thought he was being kicked out for not having a zone ticket. When he re-appeared from Aisle 21, it really had us puzzled as to what was going on. The funny thing is that the steward seemed to let him put his stuff down and on the seat before leaving and then coming back... it was confusing to watch!

Our tickets say 21, but we use whichever entrance (20 or 21) seems easiest at the time without any problems. I hadn't seen the steward before that you were getting problems with and this season we have stayed in our allocated seats, so I guess it's as Smithy suggests - someone new not experienced enough to know which rules are not worth strict enforcement.

Surely, the Zone now needs to have its own roped off area, with its own dedicated entrances????

Hi all  the seating rules have been covered so many times but here we go again...the Stadium is allocated seating fro Nix games..stadium and FFA rules..if you have a seat for FZ (Aisle 20-22) then you go there..if you dont, you dont...simple as that regardless of empty seats or whatever...if you have a problem with that then 2 options..get seats in FZ or talk to Stadium an/or FFA. We are not able to change that.

BOPMan your comments do little to help develop the otherwise good relationship that has been worked on hard this year following the YF AGM. You will find that the same staff by in large are in the FZ each week as per the request from the Fever and it has been working very well.

I have noticed at the last two home games that there was a security guy telling some people to move, one was my friends son and friend, they have season tickets in aisle 22 but they were not in the correct seat so where told to go back to the correct one, there was no one around where they were so what does it matter if they sit in seat 35 and they are really suppose to be in seat 51.

the people who were next to us this week left just after half time haha think we were too loud for them...plus everyone around them was standing and they were still sitting!

thats where common sense comes into it though. something most security guards have a huge lack of.

Well sorry but if you read what i said, you make the same point i do. Just in more words.
But i presume you are referring to the power trip comment. Well reading a lot of the anecdotal stuff on here i think i have plenty of evidence about power trips, that and you know having to deal with security guards tells me that many of them are on power trips. There are exceptions obviously, after hearing you at the AGM you seem to be one.
And quite clearly  it is not the same staff each week as you seem to be suggesting because of the clear inconsistencies displayed in the stories people here are telling.

We should just rename the Ring of Fire to "Telstra Dome" as you can do what you bloody well please in there. Just as long as you protest about something different each time you're ok!

Well , the way the stadium is set up, so that you can walk right round it, I dont think that is ever going to work.

I never even look at whats on my ticket - I always sit in the same seat.
But because I dont go in the Fever zone and there are loads of empty seats, no-one cares where I go.

But with a popular area like the zone, where sitting in the correct seat needs to be enforced, then you are surely also going to also have to restrict entry to that area.  Without  a roped off area, this is going to be mighty hard to do.
