Don't know if this is mentioned somewhere but  the "Big Boyz " of the MLS, A-League & J-League are keen on some sort of competition between the champions of these three leagues.

I thought it was just talk but a commentator on tuesday Galaxy vs Sydney game mentioned it, so I did some surfin seems to be alot of talk about it.

http://www.ppchampionship.net/ If this site is true than we shall know for sure in a few hours.

All games would be played in Hawaii though, and only lasts one week. But it would be good for the Phoenix though who can not make it into any other competition, so if we win we could go on to give the japanese and US champs a smashing, but more importantly there is prize money involved. So lets hope it does go down.

bring it on, ideally the season after we first win the league - so that we can be the inaugural winners of the PPC

Galaxy set for Pan-Pacific test
<!-- S BO --><!-- S IIMA -->
Beckham will be one of the event's star attractions
<!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->David Beckham's LA Galaxy will play in a new tournament featuring US, Japanese and Australian clubs in the new year.

The first Pan-Pacific Championship will take place in Hawaii, with semi-finals on 20 February, and the final and consolation match on 23 February.

The Galaxy will be joined in Honolulu by MLS champions Houston Dynamo, Gamba Osaka of Japan's J-League, and next February's Australian League winners.

Los Angeles will face Gamba Osaka in their opener at Aloha Stadium. <!-- E SF -->

MLS commissioner Don Garber said: "The event will provide the participating teams with high level competition, while enhancing each league's exposure throughout the world."

Why would the Galaxy be in it? Excuse my ignorance, but did they actually win anything?

Thats what I was thinking, does having Beckham automatically qualify you for tournaments now. Kind of undermines the credibility of the competition.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid...Galaxy automatically qualify along with the team that won the MLS, I think it was Houston.

Gamba Osaka aren't the J League champions either. They're currently in third.

The Team that goes in from the J-league qualifies by winning the Nabisco Cup and Gamba Osaka won it ealier this year and it seems the champion A-league team of this year won't go but the FFA will send the runners up...It's all very confusing.
