Well then, its been a while since I did the interviews and today I finally did the transcript for the Durate interview, It was only a short interview (3.5 mins) so I am sorry if i didnt ask the questions you wanted.. I was only allowed 5 mins anyway..
I will post the interview transcripts with Moss, Daniel and Lia later on tonight hopefully..
Enjoy!

Stefan: Are you excited to play for the phoenix this season?

Durante: Yeah definitely, uh, Although they finished last, uh, last season they, had, uh, some good games and they had the most attacking, uh, most attacking goals in the, uh, league so, uh, yeah I am excited

Stefan: Are you surprised the popularity of the Phoenix?

Durante: Uh, yeah its uh, to get such a big crowd in such uh, so early and after having six weeks to get a team together and, they have got uh, averaged, yeah over 10,000 crowd, so I mean yeah. I am very surprised and excited to uh, to be a part of it

Stefan: What was the reasoning for coming to Wellington?

Durante: Uh, probably to help the club succeed, I see that they have got a lot of potential uh, to be a good club and I wanted to come over here and help out and hopefully get top four and maybe even win it.

Stefan: What do you admire about Riki as a coach?

Durante: Uh, well I have only worked with him for just over probably two months, and I had heard a lot about him before I came and he came with a lot of high regard. And he had a good reputation behind him, so yeah, I am was excited to work with him.

Stefan: How did you get into pro football?

Durante: Uh, played it all my life and uh, since I was five I went through the junior ranks and I got into the rep teams and I played for Sydney Olympic from 13s all the way to the first grade and uh, (Mumbles something) I had to work may way up the ranks.

Stefan: Was sport encouraged at your high school?

Durante: ah yeah, I went mainly to a Footie school, uh, rugby league school so uh, soccer wasnt too high in the agenda but um, yeah I played school soccer and ended up playing for the Australian boys.

Stefan: Did you play any other sports other than football?

Durante: Yeah I played pretty much everything at school, um, I did athletics for a long time until I was 13 or 14, um, but I played a bit of touch football, well, I did a bit of everything really.

Stefan: What are your personal goals for the rest of your career?

Durante: uh, hopefully.. I have got two years here so um, two good years here then I can uh, look to go overseas, maybe in time I can go over there and uh, at the moment it is to help the club win something

Stefan: What do you think about Australia and New Zealand joint hosting the world cup in the future?

Durante: uh, I think it could work, um, and ya know.. I think Australia put in a bid for the world cup or something, they have got a good case and I didnt know New Zealand was suminingmeng? But I think it could work, I think it would be good.

Haha, I don't miss doing transcripts - they take forever and I both touch type and write really quickly. I wrote for the school paper back when I was at high school (like what seems like forever ago).

Outside of sports exchanges, it was a great way to get out of class. I interviewed Jonty Rhodes when I was 5th form and managed to get an autographed self-portrait out of him too (it was a stick figure...)...

BTW, Stefan, how did you tee up these interviews? We're having an interdisciplinary sports competition for architecture and design at uni, and were thinking of getting some Wellington sports people down to present some awards, have a few drinks and a BBQ for it.

I'm sure it sounded normal when he spoke all that, but seeing it written down makes him seem like a gubber like Becks

I went along to What Now? when they filmed in wellington a few weeks ago to see them when they were on (the loyal fan I am) and asked their promoter (John "In the Pinstripe Suit) when their training was, I went along, gave him a list of playerrs I wanted to see and he brought them too me after training.

Jonty Rhodes is a legend.

Durante, might be good at football but he comes across as pretty dense to be honest - based on this transcript. Pretty much used every cliche in his answers.

I may be harsh but its the impression I got from this interview. Still if he does the job on the field, who cares??
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Thanks HN, will get onto that tomorrow. Need to actually do some homework rather than procrastinating on here!

He was great. I got to skip an entire afternoon of school, sit through a SA training session. Interviewed Jonty for about 30 minutes - real nice guy. Then had a quick yarn to Hansie (prior to his banishment from cricket days).

Most sportspeople, in fact most people, sound pretty dense when every word of what someone says is reported.

It also doesn't help when the questions are not overly challenging.

He was a really great guy, and to be fair.. he just finished training and was pretty tired.. I think that the last thing on his mind was "I could go for a quick interview right now"
