Patrick Kluivert - Marquee

I mentioned that the phoenix should attempt to sign a marquee player of the calibre of Kluivert and Nuno Gomes, and I just found out today that Kluivert has been released from PSV Eindhoven http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Soccer/2007/05/10/4170604-ap.html I reckon that Kluivert would be brilliant for the Nix provided he doesn't get injured.

Kluivert would be an awesome signing haha no doubt i will get a season ticket if he came!!!! The only reason is because itll be great to see him in real life etc dnno if he still that good but who cares hes Kluivert!!!!

He would be a great player for the Nix, but unfortunatlly i think his budget is a little bit too big than what we can afford right now.

A: Wont come
B: Dont need him
C: Cant afford him

Far better off with John Aloisi at $300k - added benefit that he doesn't take up a foreign player slot, and Ross might just be enough to tempt him.

I've heard that after the "successful" stint Romario had with Adelaide last year, this season the Grand Final bottlers are talking to Sir Stanley Matthews' corpse with a view to a couple of guest appearances...

So, in case my feelings are patently unobvious - stay away from guest players and marquee signings. Spend the money on developing your own stars.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

I wouldn't be suprised if some of the Aussie teams think hard about Kluivert, if not a full contract then for at least a guest appearence.

i agree kluivert for a guest appearance only if the phoenix make it to the finals thow

Haha that would be nice, realisticaly lets just not finish last in the first season and build from there.

No chance at all. The only club that could afford him would be Sydney, and theyre after Cocu or Okocha anyway.

Trveor Sinclair has just left Man City and they've also released Stephen Jordan - defender - only 25 and right sided - be a great signing.

Sinclair has already been offered deals by Birmingham and Wigan, expect other 'second tier' clubs to follow.  Don't be surprised if Newcastle join the chase too as Solano is off home this summer.

There's a thought. Rivaldo would be brilliant, he's getting on though.

If you want a player who thinks he's god's gift to football, would give about 10 percent, and would cost the earth then go for Kluivert.

He is one of my all time hated players, running Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Joey Barton, and Nicholas Anelka a close fourth.

I'm a great fan of character, attitude and a bit of humility to go with the talent a la Ryan Giggs, John Charles, Bobby Charlton.

Yeah and Zidanes coming to NZ, oh Rivaldos been released, oh oh Becks is coming to Australia we better sign him as well and while were at it lets snap up Kluivert and Oliver Kahn.

I mean please guys les be semi realistic. The Aleague dosent have the reputation or the resources that other smaller leagues do such as the MLS and the Quatari league so we arent going to yet get any players of a former world class calbire just yet, lets wait 10 years then maybe we can get some real superstarts.

Besides we have Paston we dont need anyone else.

He was a bit of a pillock in that game against Turkey. Speaking of Turkey, do any of you guys remember Ihlan Mansiz who was number 21 for Turkey during the 2002 world cup? He was an absolutely top draw player (who could have done with a haircut but never mind).

I know Ihlan Mansiz quite the player in CM4
