My son's mate texted him to say that Paul Ifill was at Dressmart in Tawa this evening so we went along, had a chat and he signed my boy's stripey.

He came over as a really nice guy. I know that promoting the team comes with the job and its a pity that his appearance wasn't better publicised because he came over as a really good ambassador for the team and the game.

Nearly went back to get my shirt signed but didn't want to come over as a cougar.

According to the DomPost after the team break they come back to do school & community visits then back into training.  How good is that ?

With all due respect to all the other Nix players, without Paul Ifill we would have not got fourth and we would not have got to play Sydney in the semi finals.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Maybe true but who knows what wouldve happened with someone else in his place?

And did you really need to say that? No.

Thats a stupid theoretical statement. There is no way you could prove that right or wrong. And nothing to do with the thread,at all.

Allegedly

Without Ifill we may've retained/re-purchased Plodder who would have worked wonders for us, scored the Phoenix's first hat-trick, and drag us kicking and screaming into the final.

Silly comment. If we hadn't got Ifill we may have got someone else who would have done amazing. But you can't prove it. Fact is, we had Ifill and yes he had a strong hand in helping us into the playoffs but that is credit to Ricki and co's excellent recruiting.

Paul Ifill and Tony Lochhead will be in Rebel Sport Cuba St, as Puma sponsored players, on Saturday between 1 and 3pm.

Dumb comment about Ifill...of course he did the business for us. But every team has got a "go to" player. Where would Ifill be without Rooney, or the Arse without Arshevin?

Ifill did his job really well...but so did Reddy and Durante and Muscat etc. Everyone pulled their weight. The Nix are not a one trick poney

I've always thought that his goal against Adelaide was one of the unsung goals of the season. Sublime finish.

I can't listen to all of this.  The accents are just offensive.

I like the way he talked adout how the club took a punt on him because of his injuries and lack of games in the last three seasons so he feels he owes the club some loyality.

It's amazing how, you say that. If you'd have said two years ago, that Paul Ifil, the guy who couldn't get a game at lowly crystal palace, would be leading a team to the playoff's, I'd think you were crayzi!

I saw him at COMS against City in the F.A cup, and he was like a lost puppy, couldn't hit a barn door.

He has been great this year. Hope his form carries over to next season.

Maybe, but without Liam Reddy we would have finished 4 weeks earlier as well.

I was surprised by what you said about Ifill in the UK, but it just shows what a change of club can do. Reddy had not played for the Roar for months because he was playing like a dork.He was dropped and sat on the bench until he went to the Nix. As you say he was majic.
