Paul Ifill has been a revelation during
the A-League season, proving to be an inspirational figure for
Wellington Phoenix as they reached the finals for the first time.
Ifill, signed from English Championship club Crystal
Palace, has given the Phoenix "that X-factor", Fox Sports football
commentator Paul Trimboli said when previewing round one of the finals
series.
"He's got that ability to link out of midfield, to
create, and to score, and he's a real personality player. He says "give
me the ball and I'll make something happen", and everybody jumps onboard
that."
Ifill appears on Fox Sports FC, live on Fox Sports 1HD
and Fox Sports 1 from 8.30pm (EDT) on Tuesday, February 23, when he will
tell the panel about his season and about his expectations for the
remainder of the finals campaign.
The Fox Sports FC panel will
also be joined by former Socceroos goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac, who has
recently returned home for good to Australia.
Kalac has enjoyed a
successful career since first leaving Australia, winning 54 caps for
Australia while playing for Roda JC Kerkrade in the Netherlands and
Serie A clubs Perugia and AC Milan in Italy.
He will tell the
panel about his career, and why he has chosen this time to return home.
The
panel will also preview the Asian Champions League in which A-League
clubs Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United do battle for Australia.
Victory
coach Ernie Merrick, fresh from his side's victory in the first leg of
the A-League major semi-final against Sydney FC, will be on the phone
live from Beijing as Melbourne conclude their warm-up for their first
Asian Champions League fixture of the campaign against Beijing Guoan,
for whom former Newcastle Jets striker Joel Griffiths is a player known
well to Australian football fans.
Adelaide United, meanwhile,
open their campaign against defending Asian Champions League champions
Pohang Steelers in Adelaide on Wednesday, February 23.
Simon
Hill, Robbie Slater and Mark Slater will conclude the show by looking
forward to the weekend's fixtures in England - highlighted by the
Carling Cup final between Manchester United and Aston Villa at Wembley.
