Sorry, what are close?

Close means that Shane and Paul were close. A few votes is hardley going to change my mind.

Hernandez deserved MVP.

Merrick didn't deserve coach of the year, surely it should have been Lavitzka (or however you spell it)

Tommy Oar fair enough for Youf.

Galekovic fair enough for keeper too, without him Adelaide would have conceded at least triple!

Well I will come right out and say that Ifill is a much better than Smeltz?

They're completely different players, it's a very unfair comparison.

Personally, I think both of them are among the top stars of this league.

Leckie should've taken it. Oar joined the Socceroo conveyer belt this season so they were probably duty bound to give it to him.

Ifill > Smeltz. Would rather have Ifill at the Phoenix.
I like tautologies because I like them.

I agree, they are different, but if I was picking an AW team, Ifill would beat Smeltz by a country mile.

agree- whilst smeltz remains a good finisher, Iffy brings a bit of magic game after game

and if we compare our results this season with last it's an indication that a good finisher - by himself - is not enough

The bigger question, though, is would you rather have Smeltz or Greenacre?

But if both were eligible for the All Whites, they wouldn't be competing for the same spot in the team.

That is tough.
They are not the same type of player. Shane Smelez has that uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time.He is what I call a sniffer?

Merrick's team played the more attractive footy, the kind of footy the FFA wants to see played in order to promote the game. Only reason for it that I can see.

But isn't that what we were told Greenacre was like at the start of this season?

And on a completely unrelated matter, I'm loving my new forum tag...

I'm on the wind, I thought if Ricki didn't get it Ernie was the next most worthy this season.

Yeah Ricki had to be up there. Dont agree with Ernie at all.
For me was either Hernandez or Ifill, with Culina and smeltz behind them

To be honest, I think Greenacre would have nailed the chances that Smeltz had in the Bahrain game.

So you work it out

And I'd much rather have Smeltz's 19 goals as opposed to Greenacre's 5.

A whole season should be more than enough to compare the striking abilities of Smeltz and Greenacre. The statistics don't lie I'm afraid. With Greenacre having already re-signed for next season it will be interesting to see how long perseverance lasts if he can't show more up front.

Just a coincidence that we were sh*te without him you think?

Allegedly

Erm, we weren't exactly sh*te without him - 3-1 over Brisbane, and 3-0 over the Furries are but two examples of Greenacre-less Nix.

Didnt we have our worst run of the season when he was out? Or is my memory shot.

Actually all of, or nearly all of, our losses occured with Greenacre playing too.

Lady luck has exactly been with him either.  If that was Smeltz (instead of Greenacre) who tried to smash in that volley (which lead to Ifill's 1st on Friday night), it would have wriggled in somehow.

You could see that stuck in his craw a wee bit too, the poor bugger. Instead Golden Boy gets all the adulation from the frenzied masses.

Lavicka was my pick, once he showed his tactical prowess against Melbourne last year I had to pay him.

Top 3 coaches of Merrick, Herbert and Lavicka is right. Honourable mention to Dave Mitchell for me though.

How you pick the top 3 is subjective and up to the individual.

KP is on fire, some of MVFC's goals this year were brilliant. The goal of the year for me was one of the goals Krue scored against Perth (ward's long ball, archie's flick to Tommy P etc) but the final choice surprised me.

Dadi's goal for you guys was great from an individualist viewpoint, but for a pure team play goal, Kruse's final touch after Ward, Archie and Pondle's work was top notch.

Yeah like the AFC makes extra special note to be extra mean for a few different award announcement. . . . . is that context enough??
