Perth last now but...

There is a pattern in the A league when coaches get dumped, as has happened to Perth. The assistant or new man comes in and away they go!!

Sydney doing ok now under Kosmina
Adelaide doing very well with Vidmar
Knights at the end of last year with Ricki, what a run
The Jets great run last year  and same this year with  Van Egmond

Lets hope that they are the ones that change this pattern, and continue to lag behind

New coach comes in and all the players try hard to impress, usually to some positive effect. Time will tell with Perth.

Isn't it just the assistant stepping in?

Yep. Sammy Lee did that at Bolton, and looked at their and his fortunes.

Same happened at Liverpool when the backroom staff took over a number of years ago. It didn't work, even though those guys had been lifelong coaching staff at the club.

That was Roy Evans and Ronnie Moran at Liverpool.

The Kingz proved it doesn't always work, so don't worry too much about Perth. The best coach was sacked and replaced by crappier and crappier ones.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

f**k the Glory.  God willing, Farina's going to get a good spanking sunday.  He certainly deserves it.  I feel a Phoenix 'run of results' eventuating...

I kind of have a soft spot for Perth, maybe because they are geographical outsiders like us, and because I like their stable, sensible management. Some might argue that they should have unloaded Ron Smith long ago but I think the club showed commendable faith in him - a rarity now days (Sydney take note). The club even want to keep him there in another role.

New guy, David Mitchell, is no bunny either. I believe he took Sydney to the final of the old NSL comp in about '98 or '99 so he's got plenty of pedigree. Another dour Scotsman.

However, all's fair in love and war, so I'm hoping Mitchell fails too!

Although he was born in Scotland, Davie Mitchell grew up in Australia. Moved there in his teens. So his dourness is probably due to that (and the fact he played for Rangers, obviously!!)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

If every game other than a Phoenix game ended in a draw, we'd be ok. Then everyone drops points. For a while, I was wondering if that's exactly what was going to happen!!!

Perth are pants, don't expect wonders any time soon.  They used to be good and full of scumbags, now they're crap and full of scumbags.  Delight in their misfortune....

Well 4 - 1 seemed like a wonder to me - and I would have been happier with a draw.

Was hoping this post would die a quiet death.  It turns out that it's me who is pants, rather than Perth.  Good on them.  At least they did it against the loathsome Griffiths!
