So 'normal' fans arent put off..

We've contacted the club, I don't think a petition is necessary.  They are aware that this is an issue and it is being dealt with.

Normo's coming home

I'd agree with JD. The Ticketek carry-on is a potential source of bad publicity so I'd reckon that the Club would want to get it sorted out pretty quickly.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

first game guys. combo of tiketek (wateva that was, cos kinda missed the news bout the story with tickets etc) and fans fault for deciding last minute and getting there too late to pick up tickets.. if you bought you're tickett the old fashioned face to face way like we did, then it took just minutes to get in the ground.

If anything, i think there needs to be greater amount of booths present for tickets to be picked up and cash sales. there's wat, 8 counters for people buying tickets at the ground??? crazy. having said that, it works at the rugby, it must work at the soccer.

My feeling is that they've just under estimated the response to a 'minority' sport like 'soccer'. er sorry, FOOTBALL!

..plus the good old Kiwi "I'll just wander up to the gate 3 minutes before kick-off" attitude probably didn't help things much either!

Very very long lines 20 minutes before!

To all the casuals who turned up before hand, there was plenty of press and coverage about how they expected 15k if it was a fine day, and given that the publicised pre-sales figure was 7 k, doesn't take a genius to figure out that buying your tickets even an hour before kickoff was the smart idea to avoid the rush.

Well aren't we all being Soooo fair and reasonable!!!!!!!   why don't you call a spade a spade.  This stuff up was completely down to Ticketek.  I (like loads of other fans) had purchased season tickets week's beforehand, in my case nearly $1000 for 2 Pheonix memberships, and I still had to queue for 40 mins to get them (and I got there before 3pm!!)  Even if your ' last minuters' had got there earlier they would still have had to join a queue, only it would have just been longer!!!

STop being so politically correct.  This is down to TICKETEK!!!!!!!!

Well said that man ... not only the season tickets stuff-up but they also grossly under-resourced on the day ... should have 10 or more booths
Permalink Permalink

Were you collecting your membership passes from the prebought tickets window (which was were ticketek were having a nightmare) or the sales windows right by the gates where you get in, where all the last minuters would have been queueing up

Thankfully I have never had to pick tickets up from there as have seen plenty of queues before.

I agree the people I was with went down to ticketek on sunday morning to buy tickets only to be told that they would only issue reciepts for season passes and that people who wanted to buy a ticket to the game would have to get one at the stadium. Ticketek is to blame here

haha, the wellington npc team only get 10k max to games (mostly season tickets) the Hurricanes would never get a 7k walkup, and the all blacks game are all sodl out, so I suspect the stadium will never have had to worry about yesterdays situation before.

If they had a couple of booths set up further down the concourse selling some tickets for cash sales that would help a bit

Nothing to do with being politically correct.

From what I've read, I don't think the stuff up was ALL down to Ticketek. Not arguing about Ticketek being totally incompetent 'cos I've had to deal with them before and I know how bad they are, so don't think I'm defending them. The Stadium people must take some of the blame as well for not having the resources to deal with the walk up crowd on the day.

I'm sure the Club are aware of the situation and, as it seems to have produced a bit of bad publicity and seems to have affected the crowd, I'm sure that there will be a general arse kicking session so that everyone get's it right for the next home game. (which I'm going to and will be getting my ticket nice and early )

Sending a petition to Ticketek would be a waste of time, they wouldn't pay any attention. The Club should put them on notice that if they don't sort themselves out, they'll take their business elsewhere.

While the stadium may have avoided long queues by adding extra staff and gates, ticketek put half the people in the damn lines in the first place.

Not excluding the complete balls up with the season passes and and the million different reasons for it and conflicting info about what was happening to fix it, they won't sell tickets on game day, which forces walk up crowds to queue at the stadium.

99.999999999% of the problems people experienced getting in on Sunday can be placed squarely at the feet of Ticketek.

Well the "we'll call back within two hours if you leave a message" line is wearing a bit thin after about six hours. I'm not expecting a call and I'm getting madder about this season ticket fiasco by the hour.

While it could be fair to say the Phoenix don't want the bad publicity from the association with Ticketek, there needs to be public accountability for Ticketek. It isn't the clubs fault. Make that well know. Let the 2000 people who gave up and went home know - Ticketek screwed them over, not the Phoenix management. That way they're more likely to come back. Ticketek REALLY needs to pull finger and sort their act together, because their incompetance is hurting the Phoenix, not themselves.

I called Ticketek to try and get a season pass at around 3pm today, the first message was:

"All our operators are busy at present, please hold..."

Then about a minute later a new one played:

"I'm sorry we couldn't take your call, please leave a message and we'll get back to you within 2 hours.  Our open hours are 8am-5pm."

I tried calling again 3-4 times since, and it just immediately goes to message 2.... which to me suggests they've all gone home for the day.  Pretty poor IMO, guess I'll call em tomorrow morning.

one of the girls at my work gathered up all her mates (all of which who arent football followers) and was gonna head into the game, got there around half 3 and couldnt get a ticket......a few of them had travelled down from palmy to go to the football for a "get 2gether, girls day out" kinda thing......so bearing in mind the "Mystery Shop" principles......a good "shopper" experience means they will tell 4-5 people about it......a "bad shopper" experience will spread the bad word even further to 10-15 people......thats 60-75 potential supporters lost becoz of a ticketek stuff up.....now multiply that experience by the number of people who couldnt be bothered waiting.....not very nice to contemplate.

Yeah, might want to try the main line, I've heard rumblings that Ticketek are no longer selling season passes. That's what they told my wife this morning at least, and that was from a supervisor.

Mind you, this is Ticketek we're talking about, and with all the other BS they've been spewing since the original season pass fiasco, I don't know what to believe...

if your wife called the main ticketek line she'll have been given the run around, they have no idea.
The season memberships is being dealt with by some other part of ticketek  and the left hand doesn't know what the right hands doing, they are still selling season passes and the seats your wife was after IS taken and the seats you we're in yesterday are yours.

It seems that only certain people can view seating allocations for season passes and the general sales crew aren't privy to that information so they are giving out misinformation  possibly to get rid of you
which isn't to good for the phoenix coffers

Ditto! Well over 2 hours and no call back. Not all of us have jobs that enable us to be by the phone to take the return call anyway. They are just about to close for business for today 26th (if you can believe their recorded message) and only a few more days to make contact. We bought two Phoenix season passes at the stadium booth during the Jets game on the 10th (I know this is not as long ago as others) - today still no sign of tickets or other goodies and I have a distinct feeling the seats that we especially picked on the 10th will now be long gone. They must have sold those seat again on Sunday as we were not sitting in them! What next?

If someone turns up 30 minutes before the game to buy a walk up ticket they should be able to get in on time.

I went to a Roar game at Suncorp last year which had a crowd the size of yesterdays, due to getting lost I managed to turn up only ten minutes before kickoff, yet was seated by kick off. I also go to most of the warriors games, which have similar crowd sizes, often I turn up 15 minutes before kick off and that gives me time to get in and get seated.

In a well managed stadium 30 minutes should be more than adequate for someone to walk up, buy a ticket and get in the ground, when the crowd is around the 15k mark.

In my humble opinion, there should have been 5 people specifically there to deal out season ticket passes to those whom had receipts to prove their ownership. A second area with 5 people for those with vouchers for already purchased tickets. There should have been a third area with with 10 people to accept cash for tickets purchased on the day. Each area should be easily identifiable  and NOT close to each other to avoid queues mingling by accident.

The above is ticketec's responsibility. The fans responsibility is to be at the ground about an hour before kick off to get their tickets etc, there's plenty to do once inside, savouring the atmosphere as fan numbers build up for starters, getting any programmes, souveniers, food, beverage etc.

Wellington Stadium AND Ticketec better get used to it. If the teams form carries on, I can see a few more attendance records getting broken.

In my humble opinion.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

sound like ticketek have major problems to sort, but surely some responsibilty is with the club. the knew the hype behind this game, they knew the pre sales plus all those who have season tickets which they have not yet received. The should have demended that ticketek have all outlets open and extra staff on standby.

how many of those that left in frustration will not be back...
