Announcement today from Hutt City Council plus Phoenix release to members, indicate that considerable steps have already been taken if work is due to start later this year. Speaking to a prominent rugby person last week he indicated that the Petone Sports Association (Rugby and Cricket) had been involved as clubs that consider Petone Rec as their home ground. The proposed site would not be on the #1 pitch immediately in front of the grandstand. Memorial Park could be used as Phoenix headquarters. Tawa to Petone motorway might be a little bit further away. Roads seem to take longer to get clearance for than stadiums. Still not like catching a train to the stadium doorstep.
