Given that other codes have some way of honouring the fallen heros during ANZAC day, ie league and the AFL, what would be the support for a game at the RoF on ANZAC day. Perhaps a game v Wellington FC?, maybe one v another A League opp? Perhaps for ANZAC day shield?

I don't like league boosting off it personally- or at least the sky ads and often the game publicity, though the league game might be a fitting celebration in itself.

Yeah, could be a goer.  But it'll be in the middle of the Nix player's break & some of them may not be in the country or available.  Might have to be a invitational team vs, say, Team Wellington or Auckland City maybe.  The RSA could sell their poppies at the game.

I always think it's tacky how commentators etc. inevitably compare the players 'heroics' to the soldiers.

Do we really need to ruin a day of rememberance by playing sport?

Don't you think that devalues the actual meaning of the day?

If people pay to watch a game and money raised goes to support veterans then I don't think that devalues the meaning of the day.

thats a good idea, but reality is it very rarely happens.

The comment above about the tackyness of the commentators and their line about the "heroics" of the players is spot on. I hate it

It's more than tacky, it's downright offensive.
