Without being rude, who is Carey McDonald? I would like to know their efforts.

I am a little puzzled too. I'm sure she is a lovely person and devoted fan. One of these  awards went to a Nix fan living in Australia (from memory) and this one has gone to an Aucklandista. I can think of three or four Wellington based fans who should make the cut...maybe for charitable efforts unrivalled in the League, running  this forum.

Sort of thing?

Perhaps you should ask what these people do! I'm happy to tell you!

A lot make money from other peoples money. Support political parties, nothing humanitairian which is some way, is what Matt does by giving these people a break from the realities of their lives.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

For the record, the fan of the year has been around since 2012.  Recipients have been:

2012 - Dale Warburton

2013 - Ahmed Rini

2014 - Bruce Lewis

2015 - Nikki O'Connor

2016 - Carey MacDonald

The decision is made by the club.  They will have reasons, valid reasons, why they choose who they do.

Matt done magnificent work, everyone at the club and Fever acknowledge that, but lets not marginalize the other fans who've won this award, and what they do to support their club.  If you want to know why they were chosen over someone else, send an email to the Nix and ask.

Award was wasted in 2012.

Just to put my two cents in here, I was thinking about it and really all the work I do is on behalf of the Fever instead of the Nix. While it would be nice to win the award, it is a Phoenix award and I'm sure its about a dedicated supporter of the Nix. At the end of the day, I'm happy with the work that I do for Fever Dreams and the people that won the award over the last few years deserve their recognition too.

You're allowed to marginalize yourself as much as you want ;-)

looking at that list, while I don't know specifically why they won the award, they all deserve it. Except Dale.

Meh. Awards. The abuse I get from News, Smithy etc is more than enough reward for me.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

was waiting for that.

Guess that puts you in the running for "most predictable poster of the year" award, along with Steve-O after a loss.

After this last season Dale and Tracey deserve some recognition, you both know why from me anyway. I nominate Dean for the most positive influencial fan of the season award. Whilst I appreciate Matts desire to underplay his activities, I can not speak highly enough of his efforts and I am pretty sure the RMH and the people using their services would agree with me.

I remember in the early years of our existance attending an awards ceremony at the 4 Kings, Bevan will remember the one. It was fun.

lol! Do you actually know what the others have done or do? I agree Matt does a wonderful job!

I thought LG was talking about people given knighthoods here not past recipients of the Phoenix award.

If Roly had scored that one against Melbourne at the Auckland sandpit, surely would have been #1 for the season.
