IIRC the Players of the Year is voted in a 3-2-1 by the staff after each game.

As long as it is not based on the Man of the Match awards given at the Stadium

Lia v Perth :)

Think it should be Powell's first against WSW or Roly's against City.

Goal of the year gotta be Roly vs Adelaide. A special goal on a very very special night. One of two moments of the season that nearly made me cry lol

Surprised Lia's goal made it to the shortlist ahead of Doyle's, not that it really matters though. I think Powells rocket from the edge of the box was the best goal there, but Roly vs Adelaide takes it for me because of the occasion of that game.

Our goalie gets player of the year ?? with 54 goals conceded, 10 worse than the 8 clubs above us !

Would have been about 75 with Mossy in goal.

Carey is an Aucklander who travels to most games home and away and is usually active in the Fever Zone when here.  She was superb last night as well.  Positive. Well spoken.

Thought it was an excellent call.

It's like the outclassed U10 team where the GK sees more action than anyone else and is given POTY

Kotahitanga. We are one.

*not in goal* is what I think you mean.

It depends on who would be between the sticks if he wasn't there. Young, Thomas, Vuckovic, Galekovic, Birighitti, Sorenson, Reddy all have higher shot save %. Glakovic 20% higher. Still not the easiest to compare because not all chances our defence gives up would be equal across all teams.

I wonder if She is the one with white curly hair and black glasses? That woman is in YF zone every away game!

it must kind of suck being a keeper. Whenever you receive an award you can't really be too happy about it as it usually means the team hasn't played very well.

I am a little puzzled too. I'm sure she is a lovely person and devoted fan. One of these  awards went to a Nix fan living in Australia (from memory) and this one has gone to an Aucklandista. I can think of three or four Wellington based fans who should make the cut...maybe for charitable efforts unrivalled in the League, running  this forum.

Sort of thing?

Meh.  We do it for love, not awards.

Our reward is the positive feedback we get on social media for our efforts (this line may contain sarcasm).

I'm guessing you didn't predict the winner then...

Cheers HN and Others, I know who you mean now. Yep, she is genuinely nice and hard out too. I always looked at her as the little grey haired travelling fan from originally Taupo, now Auckland. I never knew her name.

It would have been embarrassing if any of us at the Fever table had won it instead of Carey. Carey is so so so much more deserving.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, but really, I'm ok with Carey getting it over me. Yes I had a speech prepared and that's a bit embarrassing now but still had a great night. Always next year COYN!

Aston Villa have cancelled their end of season player awards because the team has been so shark this year that no one deserves them
