I read somewhere that aloisi was being considered for captain if this is true i think thats terrible knews he was a terrible captain at adelaide what sort of a captain would throw a dummy spit and get a red card then chuck a sad after the game i think its good that aloisi is part of the phoenix but please not captain.  Who do you think will get the captaincy for the phoenix. i hope it is given to Coveny if he signs.

ross would be a good captain but mark paston or stephen old would be better

Ross Aloisi should be captain. Roy Keane was always throwing hissy-fits but he was great for the scum.

Steven Old? What planet are you from?

Give it to Costa...

Nope. Ummm id give it to Ross, no doubt. Those things are just minute in regarding captincy, Hes a leader, and commands the field, hes my no.1

And Paston? He cant organise his defence half the time so how he will manage himself god only knows....

Ross Aloisi would be a fine captain, that was the first time he got sent off ever (i think) so to judge him on 1 game is bloody stupid

Ross the caption till now!
Coveny in my opinion can't even make starting 11 (if we sign 2 brazilian strickers).
Paston has no organising skills.
Old?? Costa?? why not give it to Plodder? hehe

I think it will be Ross, but I think it should go to a New Zealander, it would fit with the team.

ok mabye ross is the best leader amongst the group but if a new zealander is signed with good captaincy and leadership qualities i would rather see it go to him rather than an australian.

it would be nice to see a kiwi boy get it, but Ross is alright...

maybe we should wait and see who else we get...

give it to Mr Hay (sorry sick joke)

Ross will be a fine captain - you can't judgehim on last years final alone - the season before he captained Adelaide to the minor prem.
Cov's wont be on the field enough I don't think, same with Old. Paston - not sure of his leadership qualities.
Captain has to be first choice - maybe that's why Ricki was chasing Hay - looking for a leader.

Yeah it'll prob be Aloisi. I don't really like him but bleh.

Look at the Warriors *league team* - Price is the captain (an aussie) and is doing a damn fine job.

"GUNNERS" haha how could u say Paston or Old. Theyr no way captain material. EASILY its Aloisi. Hes got alot of footballing experience and i believe a player that players in centre mid should be captain as he holds everything together. However if he got injured i would pass it on to Ferrante.

As said by most of the posts in this thread..Ross for sure..He is a good captain..He always talks to the players and is not afraid to give them a mouthful when they stuff up.

Be fair to Aloisi, Kosmina had the boys wound up so tight that the rubber band was bound to snap if anything went against them.  It did, big time, and the reaction was shocking.

I assure you, no one was more ashamed of his behaviour than Ross.

A captain should be a reflection of the manager - in this case, Aloisi was reflecting something ugly.

I think Old has the potential to be captain later, I base thison the fact he's done it through age group. I also like the idea of akiwi captaining a "New Zealand" team but suspect it will be Aloisi.

He's tough and won't take a backward step, goo fighting qualities which you need if someone is to lead from the front.

I agree with alot of other post.  It is going to Aloisi for all the same points mentioned.

I do feel a little patriotic and would like to see a NZ captian.  I'm sure  the day will come.  But for the first season We need someone with good experience.  Aloisi fits this perfectly.

I think Aloisi is our best option at this stage in terms of captaincy. I jsut can't see any one else in the squad (so far) that represent sthe kind of experience needed for the role. That said, the squad sheet isn't full just yet, and someone else could be around the corner.

As long as Coveny signs then give it to him as he seems like an ideal leader but by all means have Aloisi as a leader within the team.

Coveney is not a leader, if he was they would have never brought Hay back to the All whites to captain and lead they would given it to Cov's.

Dreamers.

Tim Brown maybe.

Ross is an obvious choice and if we excuse his Australianness and his madness last year, will be perfect for the role. I think if last years episode didnt happen he would be a shoe in (however, if that didnt happen he probably wouldnt be here :-)

Experience =  Ross.
Unless of course the captaincy messes him up.
Like those captains in cricket who are great batsmen, but captaincy stuffs them up completely.

nah I dont even see why this is a discussion really. He was one of the first signings it is obvious how he is a key player and we all know he is a natural leader. Sure he did that stupid tackle in the final but who cares hes the man. George Bush cant say speeches yet hes the president.

Aloisi should be captain and Brown should be vice-captain. Thats provided we don't sign any other players who could take out the role of captain.
