Apologies if this one's been discussed to death already - I've been out of circulation for a while. Just reading the YF news about candidates for the captaincy this season. Thoughts anyone?
Brown? Durante? Johnson? McKain? George?

I'm not sure about the two Aussies but I like the authority Johnson seems to bring to the team whenever he plays. Kind of depends on how much game time Ricki gives him of course. I don't think he got a lot last season, so maybe someone else might be a better prospect.

Durante has the Experience

It'd be good to have a Kiwi as captain, having said that if theres a foreign player clearer better at leading the team then it's in our best interests to have him.  To be honest I think Durante will be captain and Brown will be vice-captain.

i think it should be lochhead, hes experienced, a guaranteed starter, got a good head on him

otherwise give it to durante, theres no need to have a kiwi as a captain except sentiment

I agree. the first criteria or captain MUST be that they command a starting spot.

I'd want to make sure its someone towards the back, with last years defensive troubles we should lead from there and let the boys up the front get good ball and get on with the business.

And that is why Brown should not be captain.

I don't really see why there is any sort of a debate over having a non-nzer captain. To the best of my knowledge Aloisi isn't a Kiwi.

from what i saw and heard v u-23's I'd be happy with any of Durrante, McKain or Ferrante as captain

doddy also looked to be taking a bit of an organising role

it does look like we've got a bit of awareness and commitment down the middle of the pitch

I totally agree, although based on last night and sunday, Durante and Ferrante were the two most obvious choices to me. Almost seemed like an obvious battle between the two to dominate the leadership. Poor old leilei must get sick of hearing his name yelled!

i like the look of mckain - he stands out as calm and composed but can be loud and dominate as required, he impressed me with the way he dealt with a number of the young players coming in and out of training over the last few weeks to

I'd be happy with any of Durante, Ferrante or McKain.....they all have charisma, strength and leadership qualities.

I really like the look of Mickey Ferrante this year, and thoroughly enjoyed his season last year (apart from his early season shots but I was so stoked when he drilled that one in against Newcastle).  I think he'll have a great season this year distributing long raking balls out to Bertos, Gao and Daniel and am fairly sure he'd thrive on being made captain.

That said, I'm liking the look of how Durante and McKain have settled in and the presence and experience they have brought to the Nix squad and would back either of them to be our captain too.

Yeah my feelings exactly, for some reason I think Ferrante is my favorite player in the squad. He was just stupidly unlucky last season, especially that moment where he sent a splendid free kick against the crossbar in an away game, I think possibly against Queensland or Adelaide. I'd like to see him taking some more set pieces this season, he has the technique in my mind anyway. There's just something awesome about an old style schemer at the heart of the pitch, pulling the strings and setting the tempo of the game.

Ferrante?! Wise choice, he can teach Smeltzy how to send all of his shots sailing over the crossbar.

Tim Brown for my money. If he's not captain, I'll cry. I really believe he can do well once he shakes off injury and hopefully gets a regular spot in the starting eleven.

Brown is by no means a certain starter, so isn't the best choice for captain on that basis.

ur gonna be crying mate, unless its ferrante, it cant be a midfielder, and even then its unlikely, we have a lot of depth in midfield, and thus none of them are certain to start, thus i'm thinking a defender is most likely

We should get someone who was in the team last year and with experiance how about Richard Johnson he's been in the a league for a while and in the premier league before that .Or we should have a kiwi ( SMELTZ).
