Zephyr Rovers FC have been leading the way in
Wellington football management and have climbed four divisions in
short time in their bid to become the best indoor team in
Wellington by 30 June 2030. In three seasons Zephyr Rovers have won
two championships and also made the semi-final in their first
season. Meanwhile across town Team Wellington have been
showing how it shouldn't be done with three seasons of woe and no
trophies.
Phoenix need to base themselves on the successful Zephyr Rovers model and I know Rovers management team are prepared to help the new A-League franchise.

I hear Mick's job is up for grabs . . .
. Maybe they could become the Phoenix reserve team or feeder
club. I'd still like to see TW do well and hopefully they can
benefit from having the Phoenix in town, not be buried by
them.
Mick must be about 90% gone, trouble is there really isn't anyone
else in Town up to it. Wonder if we'll see Paul Nevin or
someone here ?
The problem with TW as a feeder club is that Phoenix squad players can't just drop back to the NZFC as FIFA rules allow only one international transfer a year so they couldn't go back to the A-League.
Same problem when/if the Knights need a 4 week temporary signing, if someone from Team Welly moves up to the Phoenix he'll be trapped playing in Australia until the next June/July reset on international transfers.
Classic example : Campbell Banks laid off signing for an NZFC side and got 4 weeks with the North Shore Shambles, he was then released and to get game time he's rocked up in the Victorian Premier League.

Ah well - wouldn't be too many at TW you'd
want anyway after this season. Still gonna support them next year
though, as well the Phoenix of course.
Another Zephyr win today - the streak continues. http://www.zephyrfc.blogspot.com/
Doesn't Queens Wharf drive you insane ? Those stupidly wide
goals and the keeper not allowed out of the area ?
Nah - great to have the wide goals and yesterday as keeper I only
allowed two in, which is better than most outdoor games. The trick
in playing keeper is to get off your line otherwise you're a
sitting duck.
I'm a dreadful keeper without that sizegoal. They should
convert Queens Wharf to Futsal... Hard News2007-04-03 12:39:09
Nah leave it - I like it because it is like that. I hate that five
a side at Tawa where the goals are narrow and the only way to score
is to smash it in. A good defence is hard to score against at the
Sheds - but you have to mark well.
