Manchester United? I hope so, but in reality, not a chance unless they are getting paid quite alot of dosh.

Man u would be amazing but extremely unlikely. And they would field a bunch of reserves and youth.
But I mean it's possible- barca preseason played in Mexico and US.

Yeah a pre season game would be nice, and Blackburn makes sense, but doubt it would go close to filling out the stadium. but a good crowd tho.

The idea of the super14 cards in the chippie or cereal boxes is choice. Would be cool to see all the kids tearing through the bluebirds to find a gold Barbarusos or a gold Daniel.

Around the time we said no to playing Juventus, I seem to recall them mentioning they have spoken to Rovers about a game, so guess its a possible, but no real draw cards in the side apart from seeing Nelsen I guess. They thrashed the All Whites not that long ago in a preseaon game. The Aussies in the squad would make them finding a couple more games to go along with it pretty easy tho.

big big risk in these times...
The auckland beckham game lost over $1.7 million. You have to be very careful that the numbers will stack up. In reality you would need a real big name UK team to visit to get a half decent crowd. The reality is that the likes of Man U and Chelsea will always go to Asia coz thats were they can generate the most revenue.
You might get 10,000 plus to seee the Toffees play the phoenix but I would not think it was commercialy viable unless you found a big sponsor

all true. that's why it will be so hard to find a preseason game.
I wouldn't mind a Phoenix vs Best Of NZFC?
But we want a big draw card to bring people into a friendly.
Beckham's 'once in a lifetime appearance' in wellington filled the stadium but then when he came again, the majority of people who desperately wanted to see him would have flown down.

So we need a viable personality or team and it doesn't look too promising.
So perhaps the best option is to field a relatively cheap team or even a celebrities?
Two teams mixed with nix players and celebs? And Market it by showing off the clubs new strips for either side to gain more interest.??

As gimmicky as it may be, I've always like the idea of an NZFC All-Star game, Phoenix v. NZFC All Stars, to be held in a decent NZFC city (Palmy, Christchurch etc), maybe with ticket income going to some charity. Great PR, good marketing, allow people from outside the region to see the 'nix and some game time for the second stringers & youth players.

Bring Corinthians over. Ronaldo would be a pretty big drawcard I reckon. Although some people might confuse him with HN these days...

Westpac Trust - I found this link of which I sent the following message.

For two years now I have had (well not really, I have refused to eat) to put up with that crap you guys think is food on the main causeways. The chips are tepid at best, the Hot Dogs and Burgers are a health risk. I have tried those items twice in the past and paid the price. Frankly the non corporate catering should be closed by the health department.

My second complaint is the inssesant use of the crap music at high volumes at every sporting event. we are not deaf and it is damn annoying.

The above applies to every Phoenix game of which I have yet to miss one. Also the Hurricane's and Lions games. Which I am giving a miss this year as a result.

I dare all  trust members to do a spot check and try a pinet of chips, a burger and a hot dog. I will of course not accept responisibility for any illnesses suffered.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
