Wait until you hear what we have planned for YFTV.
Poll was done the same weekend of the All Blacks vs Oz test, whenever that was. And football has lower interest than Netball, Cricket, Rugby League and Rowing tracking back about a year.
Yellow Fever has already got a facebook for the Wellington Phoenix. (Look at icon on the top of this page and click it) Why bother to double up??? Plus Greenie has made Wellington Phoenix facebook already now. (see related groups)
Well, I think that proves my point in a way, the YF group has 390 fans. The Wellington Phoenix FC group has 897 fans.
If Wellington Phoenix put on an official page, I am sure they would easily exceed any supporter numbers a YF-created page would get, because it's both official, and because it could also appears as part of the regular news/profiles updates on the 'Home' page.
AFAIK, the group page updates only appear under the Inbox 'Updates' page, which is well hidden out of the way.
An official Phoenix page updated regularly would keep the Phoenix in the face of the supporters who follow the page.
Again, look at the The-Official-Vodafone-Wellington-Lions-Page as an example. That is what the Phoenix should have :)
And I've joined both of the fan groups too thanks :)Ard Righ2009-08-06 15:01:21

Or the poll was taken during rowing world champs or something.
Join the All Whites for 2010 World Cup well you're at it. Made by ... me.
Link? :)
Needs genuine water-proof bumper stickers. There are plenty of 'It's spreading' ones still around but think how much more there would be with proper Stand Up ones.
Presume the Jagmobile is actually a Jag?
we can all dream though!
Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but oh well. I was listening to the Rock this morning and cricket legend Simon Doull (Doully) said rugby sucks support the Phoenix! And a bit more but that was all my memory allowed me to retain.
Not the only black cap/ former black cap to give football the tick. Micheal Mason and Jamie How were in my team this year, Mason could have been a football player if he had chosen that path, never seen a guy score so ofter from 30 yrds out in a season.
Oram was a cracker Goalie by all accounts.
He was but NZ Cricket told him not to play because the risk of injuries affecting his NZ Cricket professional contract. I think he should change back to football later on and just do the 20/20 on the side as well. He should be able to pick up a football contract or at least give him a trial with some teams.
Anyway, I think I will start a poster collection now.
Im glad the idea was a success. PM me for details of where to send my cheque :P
Love the new look back bencher.
Plenty of posters

I think there are generally more successful cricket players with football backgrounds in NZ as opposed to rugby backgrounds. The rugby players choose rugby at an early age because there is more chance of 'making it' in rugby here. When as the footballers don't have as many opportunities so they tend to go with cricket. It is also common to see people who can 'make it' at multiple sports (the gifted ones) such as Jeff Wilson but most only ever commit to one code.
Who ever runs the unofficial twitter site needs to use the word Wellington and phoenix because it's really hard to find @wgtnphoenixfc
If you want more than 40 followers a name change is in order.
Good advice. I wish I could change the username, unfortunately due to character limits the longest name possible would be wellingtonphoen (which is already taken anyway). wgtnphoenixfc was the best option.
That being said, I've changed the "real name" to Wellington Phoenix so hopefully it'll start showing up in name searches, which as you've pointed out I'd neglected to consider. I originally hadn't as I worried that the original account someone else had made (wgtnphoenix) was deleted as it didn't state itself as unofficial. I've made sure to mention in on the bio so hopefully that's enough.

I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth now.
Anyone else see the Dom post this morning and their little chart showing more people are interested in watching rowing than football?
we seriously need to brainstorm ways of improving the profile in a positive manner.
I bet they had that poll taken during the off season when there wasn't any football on TV to watch.

Good little clip at the end of a TV story on One News. About lack of interest in Rugby, only 10,000 went to Wellington's Ranfurly Shield defence, only 2,000 more than the Phoenix when they played Adelaide ... And they had nothing to play for (even though for that game we actually did).

Brilliant!!
Exactly what i wanted.
I was waking up and listening to the 8am news (You guessed it - Newstalk ZB) and at 08:08, Irvine was passing a sports comment of the day which I found to be quite negative towards the Nix. I'll see if I can find it. Piney might have cut his microphone cord in half if he'd been there!
Good work CL and UG.
Will print mine off later today.
Wow that is like exactly what was asked for. GREAT work Phoenix Staff. Way to listen to the fans.
Posters are already up and around the Backbencher. Great spots along our Molesworth Street frontage.
My printers f**ked. But will have some up round Vic uni by next week.
Here you go everyone:
