Old Willie Lose isn't too bad.  Sure, his footballing knowledge could probably be written on the back of the postage stamp - but he did seem genuinely happy that the Phoenix made made it over the line when everything was up-in-the-air.  As for 'Penis Head' Deaker: anyone who has a mental breakdown due to NZ losing the America's Cup back in 2003 says everything about his sporting knowledge and passion.  A rugbyhead delusional...does he still have Gordon Bray as his 'Aussie' correspondent, with the only Aussie sporting subject being of course that great Aussie pastime...you guessed it...egg chasing/rugby?!?  Stevo2007-05-09 13:40:33

ive said it once in another thread and i will say it again, Prime TV (esp The Crowd goes wild with Mulligan and Richardson) could and probably would be the best source of media support for us...they cover everything from coal shovelling in OZ to college basketball in the USA.

flick them an email and im sure they'll help

also, the fact that prime seems to be the new free to air sports channel means maybe we can count on them to be the home of the Phoenix

Thanks you SBS and the world game for doing some decent coverage on the Phoenix today....Today on SBS, The World Game spent 10 or more minutes speaking about the Phoenix and also doing an interview with Ross Aloisi.
This is worth a look... also a One News clip about Costa is avaliable here under video - Big future predicted for Phoenix teen: http://tvnz.co.nz/view/sport_sub_cat_skin/sport_football_index_group

Was good to see TV 1 do something on Costa the other night. Hopefully the media get in behind the Phoenix, some are doing a pretty good job already. The Dom Post has been excellent right through the whole thing.

i agree the Dominion Post has had a ton of updates on Wellington Phoenix. TV is gonna be a little harder to crack.
Maori TV could be keen...

I hope they continue to bring us footage of the signings. Good to see what makes up the Pheonix now and then. Looking foward to the Brazilians footage.

yeah i can't see them dedicating much more time to interviews with Phoenix signings though. i think costa was the exception because his signing was like some fairytale.

I understand the Phoenix have appointed their own media manager - John Mitchell. He worked at the DomPost and covered the initial signings.
As far as coverage goes, I know NZPA provide copy on the Phoenix to all daily newspapers (incl Nnzherald.co.nz; stuff.co.nz, Radio Live and Yahoo!Xtra.

It's not that simple..SBS is a not a commercial TV station so it doesn't ave much money..Foxtel on the other hand is massive company with money to waste and so they could ave easily out bid SBS for the coverage rights..I don't think any Tv station could out bid Foxtel for anything..For example...It took both Channel 7 and Channel Ten in a combined bid  to be able to get coverage of a few AFL games away from the grip of Foxtel.

So in other words....Sbs = Little Fish in small pond
Foxtel = Giagantic fish in small pond.

Would be the sh*t if we could get a little show of our own going, getting fans rigning up, voiceing their opinions and talking bout previous games and upcoming games..

Maybe a few of you guys and guyesses should approach Community Radio and see if you can get a timeslot - say before, after or around the Greek/Italian timeslot. I recall a few mates from Northern Spirit running their show in Sydney called "The Charlie Dempsey Experience" and I also recall doing a couple of guest appearances following some Kingz games that we attended in Sydney. If I recall they were on after the Greek Community people finished their scheduled timeslot on the radio. It cost them nothing apart from time and providing people to run the show and manning the phones during the show. The Spirit guys were quite funny and even interviewed a sheep when I was on one show.

3 articles on football in Today's Dompost (inclusive of the 2 in the sports liftout) + A big photo on the back page. Fed's going hard this week. Nice one mate!

Give Dan McHardy and Piney a go at commentating the games.

Dewhurst is no good. Him and his lover N Hickey can cover local Auckland Div 5
