Actually, there is a valid reason to not buy a season ticket - yet.Perhaps some are not wanting to prop up the current regime?
Now that is the only way in which fan power could actually make itself felt. I am reminded of the fans' boycott of Hellas Verona in the middle of the last decade until their owner left. However, the words "cutting nose off to spite face" leap to mind. Is it worth wrecking the 2011-12 season to get rid of Terry before we are sure that there is a qualified replacement waiting in the wings?
I'm not sure I remember reading any post that said aggressive action or campaigning should be taken to bin Terry. Maybe I was dozing under a rock....
Nostalgia isnt what it used to be...........

To be fair, JD has a point that sometimes I've gotten carried away trying to be sceptical about negative stories and rumours, and personalised the debate by attempting amateur psychoanalysis on those who take the opposite view. That doesn't help anyone and I should be apologetic about that.
I'm not apologetic, though, about retaining the right to disbelieve anonymous stories and rumours. For example, I don't consider it settled that Ricki really is suing Terry and will not do so until one or both of them confirm it. I don't disbelieve it, but it's not a fact in my eyes yet.

Well said doloras. Pretty much sums up your approach spot on, and fair play to you for not responding angrily to some of the stuff directed at you in the last couple of days. You stuck up for what you thought - not always right, not always wrong, but you spoke your mind and you believed it.
Respect.

I believe that:
1: If Ricki is taking Terry to court and
2: If Terry is going to fight this, slowing things, not going gracefully (like he has with every other creditor) and by doing so putting the club in more of a perilous position
then yes, it does require a campaign by the fans if it results in FFA revoking the license from Terry and another investor (or 5) taking over

Facts.
1, Terry and Ricki spotted having a perfectly amicable lunch yesterday
2, There is nothing I have read stating Ricki is taking Terry to court.
and yet the NBR and dom post print the story that suggests completely the opposite and the angst and anger towards Terry rises.

The Mystery Five (see what I've done there) has got FFA go ahead on an "in principle" basis for a takeover. But FFA wont be taking any futher action until at least after tommorrow, which is their final deadline for Century City Football to pay the amounts owed to FFA and former players for superannuation and unpaid wages.
There is a formal process that would be instigated to remove the license (which is held by NZ Football?? doesnt sound right to me).
Should CCF pay up, then the FFA will not take any immediate action but are constantly in contact with regard to the current bankruptcy against the major shareholder and constantly monitoring the wages of the current players.
With regard to the $100K rumoured to be owed to the coach, no court proceedings have been issued, but counsel for Mr Herbet are advising on the status regarding likely unsecured position of the $100k and how this might be recovered.
Rock solid info, but confirmation for bored members will have to wait as this plays out over the next few weeks / months. So hearsay until then

Amazing if true. They must have made a convincing presentation.

The licence is not held by NZ football, unless it reverted sometime in the last few months. They held it for a short time after the knights before it was handed over to CCF. It sounds plausible though. Is this the kiwi saver issue or some australian super scheme?rjmiller2011-09-07 14:34:14

Amazing presentation along the lines of..... Look here is a Bank statment. It shows we have $4m sitting ready to go. Pretty convincing and very short!

If the FFA are really ready to hand the Nix licence over to whoever shows up with a bunch of money, then they're freakin' stupid. I would have hoped that the Phantasmic 5 would have also made a presentation convincing them that they actually have the knowledge, skills and commitment to make the Nix a success, competing for the HAL title and expanding the fanbase in New Zealand. (The "commitment" thing is still Terry's ace in the hole.)
I wasn't around back then, but I seem to remember that whoever owned the Kings and Knights had a budget, but not a hell of a lot else. I repeat: if the first job of Rob Morrison as new chairman of the Nix would be to sell off Ifill and replace Ricki with some guy from the Central League who promised to work for petrol money, then I for one would not see an improvement.Doloras2011-09-07 16:09:26

Option 1: Guy desperately trying (and probably failing) to stave off bankruptcy.
Option 2: FFA spend their money trying to prop the club up short-term.
Option 3: New guys arriving saying we've got money and are willing to take the lead on this thing.
If you're the FFA, which is the most appealing option?

Depends on who is involved in Option 3.
Brian Katzen was hugely loaded and his football team played an A-League game in front of 597 people.
I'd say that luckily the FFA are clearly not so foolish, but I'm not quite convinced about that.

Depends on who is involved in Option 3.
Personal trust is also an issue. The guy in financial dire straits mentioned in Option 1 has impressed the FFA with his commitment and willingness to put skin in the game. If Big Daddy has accurate intelligence the P-5 seem to have made a good impression, but on the other hand it could have been...
FFA: "So, Mr Morrison, why do you and your colleagues want to take over the WPFC licence?"
ROB M's BRAIN: "Don't say revenge on Terry! Don't say revenge on Terry!"
ROB M: "Er... revenge on Terry?"
ROB M's BRAIN: "That's it! I'm out of here!" (footsteps, door slams)

The thing that really concerns me with the present issue with Ricki, is that surely if there was no problem or issue witrh Terry and a big wedge of cash, he would surely hold a press conference within minutes of the news coming out and simply say" There is no problem, I am totally comfortable with my financial position with Terry"

Rumours have reached me from anonymous sources that John Morrison is a secret devotee of the Ichor God Bel-Shamharoth. If there was no truth to this, he should publicly deny it.
As to "any good news" - a couple of days ago we signed Dani Sanchez. That was good news. And surely the mere existence of the P-5 (assuming they're not just Rob Morrison and sockpuppets) is good news, right?Doloras2011-09-07 16:37:23

Exactly, why should the media be allowed to set the agenda? Ricki should be preparing for the new season, not having to spend time reacting to media stories (especially ones started in the NBR).
I'm fine with Ricki saying nothing.

How is the weather on planet Doloras today?
Once again, personal abuse is the response to someone who expresses scepticism as to what other people have decided is the truth.
I should also note that Barack Obama repeatedly denies that he's a secret Muslim and communist who was born in Kenya, but that seems to just make more people think it's true.Doloras2011-09-07 16:41:40

Fair enough, just hope we do not end up with Chris Greenacre preparing the Squad in Rickis absence

Firstly everyone knows you are not being serious. Even if you were you don't have the same reach as the DP, the NBR or the NZHerald to the point which Morrison is almost certainly unaware of your...accusation? statement? On the other hand he would probably be quite happy to add to the mystery.
Agree with the good news.
