Depth will be an issue. 15/16 yo on the bench. If they have to start, they will struggle

Although, having said that junior McGarry has made an okay start.

Watched the second half....was quite surprised when I got home to see that they had won 3-0. Thought the Wanderers looked better.

Well done Wee Nix

Weenix is adopted by the mainstream media.

Well done Adam.

Game finished 2-1 to Waitakere.

A grandstand finish. WeeNix dominated for 80 mins and then Waitakere came home strong in last 10. WeeNix squandered half a dozen good chances while Waitak took the 2 that they created.

From memory the starting 11 for the WeeNix were:

                    Hailemariam

Boyd                                   Stevens

                 A-Rod   Ridenton

                         Rufer

McGarry   Blake   Dimairo   Gulley

                         Sail

Boyd was excellent again - magnificent first goal.

Pretty much the nix were in control of all aspects until they made their subs around 75th min taking off A-Rod (who was very good at A-Rod stuff of closing down play and controlling play but passing sideways a lot), Gulley (who was very very good - never beaten and stormed forward on occasion) and McGarry (tidy). At that point Waitak's midfield got time on the ball and they worked the flanks well to stretch the WeeNix defence.

The equaliser from Bale was a howitzer from 25m (may be 30m) out. Then Biss with the finish in the last minute or so for Waitak to take the win. ramtallica was happy as he'd backed Waitak at $2.50 (fucking judas).

Woop, woop, woop!!  Result never in doubt....

The Nix really did dominate and should have been 3-0 up before the subs were made.  Probably a good lesson for the boys to play until the final whistle.

Looks I'm about to double up on the CCM vs Adelaide game - woop woop.

Carr had a good game in goal for Waitak but even then, the number of times chances were butchered and attacking play broken down by attempting something flashy instead of just getting a shot in was frustrating.

Could/Should have been 5-0 before Waitak got their first.

Sounds like the story of their season so far. Dominate but nothing in the bag

Sounds like it's time for Boyd to get a run in the first team. He should at least be on the bench ahead of Kenny C.

I think he is ahead of Cunningham in the pecking order to be fair. He came on against Perth ahead of him.

Looks like he's being groomed to be Riera's replacement. He was very tidy. Deep lying playmaker kind of thing. He screened the defence well.

The WeeNix midfield bossed until A-Rod went off. Ridenton was getting box to box, A-Rod was more supporting roll moving ball around, closing down opposition.

I was really impressed with Blake. For an attacking player he's not a bad option at CB at this level. For instance, Waitak made a sub around 80th min bringing on a right winger. The winger knocked it past Blake but Blake turned and out-paced the guy, got in front and shepparded the ball for the keeper. Not bad considering he'd been working his guts out for the entire game. He was a wall. I also thought he played well in the game against TW in the midfield.

Ah; missed the game and didn't hear anything about Boyd so assumed he didn't.

You can defend very differently if you have pace at the back

Not sure if this has been posted- seems like it is just for the TW games? Are there any others for other regions? Would be good to have more highlights like this for sure.

I still don't understand how Boyd ended up with that yellow card. (4mins into highlights)

Would it have not been for holding up the play well after the whistle (He got a good shove as well)

Yeah, I think it was one of those delaying the game/"kicking" the ball away.

I'm obviously just blind then.  Mind you it was a gorgeous day last Sunday and I didn't have any sunnies.

A Riddenton, Rufer, and now a Evans, all we need is a McGarry or an Edge.. Totally unfair on the kid but it does seem to help your career if you have an ex All Whites name..

I hope he is a defender. The squad needs some depth there. Phoenix website article says he's a midfielder.

Is he more a CB or FB?

IIRC Louis Evans played in central defence alongside Zach Gordon for Canterbury United Youth at Team Wellington Youth (WeeDubs?) last weekend.

Louis' brother and Ceri's other son Oscar looks to be a good young prospect as well. Starting left back last season for Cashmere tech 1st team. Been in and around the Canterbury 1st team.

Grown as a very good CM, with a great touch and pass on him. Started there this season in the youth league, however dropped back into CB. Very solid tackler, but not the fastest but great for playing the ball out of the back. Very composed and perhaps that let him down in CM as sometimes was overly composed and took to much time on the ball.

Looking forward to see how he goes. Could make a great partnership with a more faster CB who can cover behind perhaps a JBS or perhaps Blake who has been playing there.
