I think logan rogerson needs to go the way of kosta and marco. When your not getting regular first team time. Go to another A league franchise and stick it to the phoenix. Time for rogerson to take it to the nix level.

What A league club would sign him as one of their imports? None. More realistic option is to keep working hard; and be patient.

This is presumably what the forum suggested to Marco and Kosta before resorting to the cheap call "Judas"

- go get some game time in the A league logan.

He is still contracted for another season and will get his chances as a wide forward off the subs bench, its the central midfielders like McGarry & Singh that are the ones who I really worry about not getting their chance.

Difference being that Marco and Kosta were both playing regularly and well, and saw more opportunity in Melbourne and Brisbane; whereas Logan not so much. He's got a contract, he just needs to keep working.

Agreed and they have Rufer and Ridenton ahead of them, let alone current starters. I guess you either keep trying and wait it out for players to retire/leave, or try elsewhere - especially if you have a second citizenship.

I remember both marco and Kosta being under utilised and not getting much game time - so I was disappointed but not surprised when they left. With smeltz now an option off the bench I think Logan will struggle to get anymore game time this year. As for contracts. Managers and clubs can agree on terms even if the contract is not up if it benefits both clubs.

Marco is the player most deserving of the Judas tag in the A-league considering the YF paid for his trial at the nix and the club offered him the Junior Marquee slot to stay. Nothing cheap about that, although it is of course chanted without enmity.

He played in 17 games (including 10 starts) in the season before he left the club, remember he was only 18 or 19 at the time, the fact that the club offered him the youth marquee position and made him young player of the year indicates that he was likely to get significant game time the following season. Kosta was underutilsed though.

The Marco that was injured for much of his last season with us. When fit he played plenty. As an aside were you going to drop Ifill to play him?

Nope. He was going to move to further his career as all young players should do if they want to be successful in the A League. Leaving the Phoenix was the best move Kosta rojas and as I suggested in the first place, Rogerson could do for their careers. Please keep up chime.

Kosta's move  (Costa at the time) made more sense as we had no NYL team so he was guaranteed game time be it in the first team or youth team. I'm sure an injury to what was a senior player opened the door for him. Marco less so, he would have gotten game time and developed - he did poorly in his first season in MV but in a good team it's like being in the shop window, a less good team is a display at the back of the store.

Logan is in a better position with playing in the SSP.

Finally back to Rogerson - the whole point of the post with kosta and Rocarse just being examples.

My point is waiting is the safe option - who knows where he can go if he gets regular first team time - CCM - May after another impact player - they took Powell.

Powell is Australian, right? Rogerson would be an import player.

They have their own well-established Academy.

Highly unlikely option.

Given the Wests firsts and reserves team average age is is about 17.something and the Nix's penchant for playing kids up, what age were these toddlers? Did the match take place between feeding and changing times?

Both squads had their mix of 13 years olds, 14 & 15 by my reckoning- The Nix refer to their team as 'U15'.

My thinking is ole started with two 13 years olds, 1 in Nix team; (i could be wrong).

In general, i would say the Ole lads are physically bigger, though not necessarily older, and tended to have a better first touch.

If you'll excuse the pun it really was a case of men against boys.

Both teams looked to have a good mix of ages. But whereas the Nix looked like a bunch of kids cobbled together to play a game (and given the amount of recruitment this summer it's a fair comment) Wests looked like they had played together for years even though it was a mix of three different age groups.

Having all their academy kids playing the same system from the 8 year olds to the first team really showed. Their movement, first touch, speed, and range of passing was head and shoulders above the Nix.

Wests even played the last 25 minutes with 10 men after using all their subs at half time and getting an injury.

The skill level and the pace it was played at made it a great game to watch and if Wests had been more cynical/clinical, they could have scored another 5/6 with ease.

Two very different 'U17' teams played last night  Ole v Nix at Ole Academy. Mostly older (16yr) players, finished 4-0 Nix.

I'm assuming this is Mambo's brother? Maybe if we do end up re-signing Mambo & it is indeed his brother, he could tag along and join the academy.

That is a fair point but I wasn't trying to infer that we should sign him just because he maybe is Mambo's brother. I was meaning here is an Aussie u17 rep that could have a support network in Wellington and maybe we should look at offering him an academy spot because the FFA are closing their centre of excellence.
