My thoughts on the Nix reserves today...

I was pessimistic before the game but the Reserves looked especially good in the first half. Boyd played well, good quick feet and movement. Unfortunately not much end product.  Blake went well in the midfield in patches. The comment on Rufer being good and then coughing up ball was fair IMHO. The left hand side of defense was the weakest area. JBS didn't really look that comfortable at CB. Not sure if Gulley was under instruction to be more defensive and help JBS out but Gulley didn't really do a thing in that game. Gulley got beat a few times. I think TW's should have exploited this more. Hicks drifted in and out of the game.

They need to address the issue at CB or it will cost them a few goals this season. Boxall is too important to the first squad (well, I would have thought) and it isn't really JBS's position. Classic example was Fa'arodo ran down the left and only had one option - cross into the box with only Corrales to aim at. JBS should have easily taken it except he held off and allowed Corrales to gather the ball with his feet and then get a shot off (into row Z). Regulation to read that and head the ball away from a 5"4' player not exactly known for his heading.

Not trying to bag JBS - just think the club need to find a better option in the CB position. Is there another option out there?

Gulley has been injured the whole winter season with a groin injury so probably still trying to get up to fitness

Hard to know what to expect of the players in the side/team results wise.  They should be fitter, but the fringe Phoenix players have basically come from the ASBP

I’m looking forward to the game the Wanderers game Sunday.

WeeNix will have something to prove after the loss. Sounds like the Wanderers side were pretty handy against an experienced Waitakere outfit.

I wonder if Wanderers will let Nix play with the extra professional players…

Hope it isn't a blow out. Could be played at a frenetic pace given what the Nix were trying to do last Sunday.

If they don't it will be a scandal of epic proportions.

Speaking of a scandal of epic proportions, we couldn't get a special licence in time for Sunday to serve beer legally, so its lemonades all around.

But who needs to drink to have a good time right?

Guessing Ridenton, Rufer, Boxall (maybe) & Kenny to join them.

Actually on second thoughts, they might just make it kids vs kids and go more with the Academy players.

Kenny and Boyd putting a bit of pressure on for inclusion you would think and sounds like Stevens isn't doing his chances any harm either.

though only going on the goals scored on the twitter...

Kenny looked like he gave two shits today. Having said that, his offside count was close to 10.

So twice as many as TW got last year ...though the numbers appear to be down everywhere else , time to pull the plug , thinks me ...

What's the deal with Andrew Blake playing for our reserves? Thought he'd be far too old for it, let alone too busy directing "classy" softcore adult entertainment films

Thats not correct at all. TW were averaging 250 last season. If you are going to try to stick the boot in, at least do it with correct facts.
