great work hard news!

good to see 4 out of the first 6 games at home

also good to see that the words 'basin' and 'reserve' do not appear on the draw...

Can wait for the ENERGY to run through the Westpac Stadium after we score our first goal at home against the Victory.
I though our first match would be a hard one, but by the look of it, we got it.

no lunchtime kick-offs  must've learnt from last season

can't wait  victory up first  couldn't ask for a better acid test than that

5:00 is a poor kick off time the stadium has disgusting food.

good effort hard news any news on squad announcements yet, heard its gonna be within this next week and i deffinately interested in season ticket there any info on that subject yet.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Papers had some vague details on season tickets but nothing concrete.  Aus sources are calling a player announcement on Thursday, may well see ticket prices at the same time.

The strip is around as well (see a thread below) but that hasn't been released either.

Suspect we'll either have one big kick-off or one thing a week for the next few weeks to keep the profile high.

I know its a bit early but is there any interest from anyone coming up round 4 in Sydney.

We had such fun last year with the barmy Army.

cheers mate been keepin an eye on the dom post as well as a few web pages, seen the strip, mildly disapointed its not yellowbut its all good and still think yellow fever is a good name for fans after all it is wellington based. Since when av the names block 5 or even barmy army given any indication  where the team from that all comes from reputation as supporters i think!!!

Well spoken NE. The spirit of the Phoenix and the Fever will always be yellow.

A variety of match times - not too bad though.

thanx for posting that - something to look forward to towards the end of the NZ winter ...

I think we can see the pattern though.  Mostly Sundays early while the Air New Zealand Cup is on, so we get the pitch at an approporiate grass length for football if Rugby is on it earlier in the weekend.

Then once the Rugby season finishes we have a lash at the long summer evenings to get lubricated before and after....

Yeah but one game is during our Saturday winter footy season - will be straight out of the shower and down the ground.

Ho Ho. Why not eat before the match?  Or after?  Why not take a packed lunch?  FFS!

Bugger a home game on my Wedding Anniversary. Better start earning some brownie points

Overall the draw as a whole seems pretty good. They've varied the rounds a bit, no-one has any really long road trips, and games which have previously got good crowds have been kept at around the same time, eg, Central Coast vs Melbourne on New Years Eve at Bluetongue.

The only thing I'm a little bit annoyed with is the Melbourne only has one home game against Adelaide and Sydney. The massive crowds would have boosted the A-League's crowd average, but oh well.

.... but I think I read somewhere there's a couple of pre-season warm up matches being held at the Basin Reserve?

Checked the rugby draw - has the following games for the Lions:

25 Aug - v Tasman at 5pm (day before Phoenix - Melbourne)
8 Sept - v North Harbour at 7.35 (night before Phoenix - Newcastle)*
20 Sept - v Taranaki at 7.05 (two days before Phoenix - Adelaide)

No clashes in playoffs as Phoenix away those weeks - unless Wellington get to host final in which case it'll be the night before Phoenix host the Mariners.

*Given I'm an ex-Harbour boy I might as well sleep at the ground that weekend

Yeah, the 'home' games against the Clogs (Roar) and Bling (Sydney) in the pre-season cup.  Rumour says both may be at the Basin.

we'll my friends i like the draw at the end 3 home games in a row all friday 7pm and all during the start of summer, if were winning those 3 games will be pumping.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Would have preffered more Saturday games, or even Friday evenings than Sundays, but at least they are at the cake tin. The corn dogs are disgusting but the pies are OK and hot enough to cause serious injury!
