I read a post in a different thread about the attention to the stadium and this tour by Dome over the last year.

When you factor the cost of bringing these teams out against full stadiums, PPV income, and onboarding sponsors (say... that would be Carlsberg) the owners will be doing ok out of this and Domes attention to this would seem to be justified. With Welnix stated desire to break even and invest profit back into the Phoenix, they can't be doing too badly at the break even line when you consider that the stadium is also looking to renegotiate and the FFA cover the wages. With the Phoenix on the up and signings across the league of quality and what appears to be a decent squad (if we get McGlinchey and another import) why would you not want to get on board this train at the moment. Its not like the Hurricanes are setting the world on fire right now.

The Phoenix are actually a good new story for other sponsors to get on board with right now I would have thought.

Doing my rounds at work the other night I was actually quite surprised by the number of people, kiwis, male and female, europeans, pasifika, maori, etc who discussed the world cup and were genuinely interested. More so than in the past, not some sort major sea change but a shift nevertheless.

The thing is we just have to be patient, the game is global, it is and will grow in this country.

Yeah play pussy soccer, where you do things like shove your finger up other guys assholes in the game, or perform a bit of watersports on your self in pubs and get your mates to take a photo of it, pussy shit like that... oh wait.

When ever I hear of pussy soccer I think of Bertos lying unconscious inside the penalty box and the game being played around him for a good couple of minutes until the Phoenix managed to get the ball back and kick it out.  Or Smeltz playing with horrific facial injuries.

I know that neither are equal to a torn scrotum (what is really), but its not really a competition and there's plenty of cases to prove that they can be equally as tough between multiple codes.

I've always thought the pussy stance was a weird one considering more people play football in NZ than any other sport.

I think the pussy thing is stupid because if violence is your key requirement for a sport why bother with rugby, which messes around with a ball and teams and so on. Why not just watch UFC, or boxing, or Muay Thai or something? All a lot more violent than rugby.

Also, regarding that meme mentioned above, I saw that one of the main people that those shares of it on Facebook seemed to come from was Tony Veitch. Men who viciously assault women to the point of putting them in wheelchairs are really in a good place to condemn other men for being soft.

...most of them actually (16 super XV games + 12-14 ABs + whatever else). And I'm not sure how you can argue that one anyway when you look at the length of the A league season.

As Conan said, trying to argue with Rugby-heads over "who's the hardest" is the epitome of stupid. Tell me about a game that is athletic, skillful, fast-paced, competitive, and hard-fought, and I'll go check it out whatever the code.

I seriously doubt most ABs played that. Dan Carter and Richie McCaw certainly do not cause they are always broken. Must be cause they are so hard (but yes, you do have a point)

Just becasue some rugger heads have to compensate and diss football doesnt mean we need to drop to their level. if they want to they can go ahead. both games have their great points and not so good points, you don't have to hate one to like the other.

Still having problems? Why did they drop Datacom and hire the Australians? I've heard that KiwiPost also uses Talent 2 for their payroll system and was having all sorts of issues when the government signed off on the launch of NovaPay.

And before people get worked up Nova Engergy and NovaPay have no relationship.

1. Is Novopay ;-) Not Nova...

2. Labour signed off the decision to change to Novopay in 07/08 as they offered an instant move to an online system, at a substantially cheaper price than Datacom was currently offering for the new contract, Datacom was slowly moving towards an online system, but also not forcing schools into it and rolling it out school by school.

3. Yes NZPost also use it, they actually got the system after the start of Novopay working on Education payroll, but it rolled out quicker as was a smaller system. They had some huge problems early on, before the final date of Novopay for education.

4. When it came to final sign-off of Novopay it had already been delayed at least 3 times possibly more, huge amount of money sunk into it, and the final sign-off decision was made based on Ministry staff advice to Ministers, part of the issue was the end of extended contract with Datacom, and I understand it basically came to, either stay with Datacom permanently or move, I am guessing from here, but sounds like the staff decided the risk of moving was worse than outlaying for a new system with Datacom which could still have the same teething problems.

5. As for the problems, having worked at Datacom for several years, about 90% of the issues we had were school error, not filling in forms correctly, giving incorrect dates, wrong bank accts, forms arriving after cut-off time. As I understand the checking process at Talent 2 was a big step down from at Datacom so a lot of these errors seeped into the payroll instead of being caught by data checking, not blaming the staff at schools, but I know for a fact that there were always large numbers of errors from there. (As an example about 50-60% of ALL new appt forms were returned to schools for not having correct information.

So add forced decision meaning it went live too early, a system created that didn't have all requirements, a system built without knowledge of the payroll (Until 1 year out they refused to hire datacom staff), to the issues already had and it was always going to have issues.

The reason why the NZ government does anything.... to put economics before anything else.
